When he first became a Paladin for the Trinidian Church of Maze, Fidel Santiago was deployed with 50 of his fellows to a village named Tampico to deal with some "infidel" Romani (similar to Earth's gypsies). A misunderstanding ensued when one of the Paladins was killed by an unknown assailant and the rest of the regiment was told to kill every Romani and anyone aiding them. It turned into a bloodbath with all the Romani, a few Paladins and almost the entire population of Tampico being wiped out. Fidel was traumatized by the experience and suffered a crisis of faith in the aftermath, though he eventually resolved his feelings and went on with his life as a Paladin.

I did this to practice expressions and blood splatters mostly. I also happen to be writing a short story about the events described above, so I was inspired.
