This piece was a collaboration between myself and Tom Clowder
Tom_Clowder to develop an ad for a portable MP3 player for mice. The miniaturization electronic devces has been strongly promoted and invested in by the mice since it is a great equalizer in their eyes. In fact ever since the magic "went away" the mice have always been heavy investors in the sciences and technology. Since "Move to the Music" couldn't exist without the advances that have been in computers and electronics, and since they are the hottest mouse act out there right now; it made sense that they would be recruited for an ad campaign.
One of things that is cool is that Tom went and carefully matched the color palette to mimic the original color of the first generation ads, and then found a font that was close the one Apple uses.

The thing that that was really great was the fact that I actually sold a matted print to a fellow who had actually worked at Apple on at the time was the new iPod Shuffle which looks amazingly like the iPac! He wanted to put it up in cubicle and see how long it took someone there to notice it wasn't actually iPod ad.
That is cool, but I was always wondering, would the mice have invented *since they are the smart ones* most electronics mice sized and big people stuff would just be big hollow cases with next to nothing inside, or would physics not allow this. Just a thought, cause carring a whole backpack just to hear some tunes has got to suck!
Well remember they would have to go through the evolution of technology to, and some things for awhile were the size they are because we just didn't know "how" to make it smaller. The circuit traces couldn't be etched any finer. The heat sink needed to be so large. The battery/ energy density required the power supply be so big. They could not make effective switches that would be rugged enough for something this small. Now in this world there has been a lot of incentive to go smaller, remember three foot tall fennecs and four tall weasels can benefit too, but somethings just had to wait until the that world got a better understanding of physics and manufacturing. Mice while being heavy supporters and investors in technology and the sciences have had to use the bigums as effectively test-markets to try out new ideas technologies, and then as they been able to shrink them and make more rugged and smaller then offer them to the mice. "Boy I hope that last sentence wasn't too bad of a run-on!" ;)
That is true, but for some reason I always thought if people could already be smaller then stuff would start small and get even smaller, I guess materials would play an important role in the process of that, however many things even today are big, cause if they were shrunk dont, we couldnt hold them. I think we could make an ipod that could fit in a mouse pocket :P
Also what will work for a mouse mgith not scale up to bigum size. In this universe mice obtained lighter than flight in about th late 17th century and the mouse size glider came on the scene in the early 18th century. Even powered flight for mice came into being in the mid 1800's but it still took until the early 20th century for materials and power supplies to become reliable enough for bigum flight. In fact one of the problems avaitors had was that when they tried making aircraft for bigums they tried scaling up mouse-sized aircraft to their size. With often unfortunate results. Having competed in flying model competitions in my younger years I discovered was that it was a lot harder to make aircraft fly when it weighs 3lbs instead of 3ozs! Overall design, choice of materials, size, and even selection of airfoil could diminish performance, leave you grounded or worse not reveal the design flaw until the aircraft was 500ft off ground! Splat. Mildly amusing if it happens to someone else model or even yours. but disasterous if people are onboard the craft.
