Ditto, I'd would love to see them as a playable race someday, Maybe we can hope they might consider them if they ever plan on adding in more races in any future expansions, But we'll probably have to wait after the birds and bears, since If I'm correct, they had those two on the drawing board already during creation as possible races, So if any more races get added, It'll probably be those two first

In all seriousness though, they could add tons of races if they gave them only so many class options.

Example: Ogres as warriors, guardians, rangers
Skritt as mesmers, thieves, engineers and so forth.

for Skritts, I think rangers would work for them aswell. maybe have a new little creature/monster special to their main territory as a starter pet for their rangers

Some skritt have, IIRC, tamed Murellows (the weird furless bear) to help them.

Well if EQN goes well, they'll have a race of rat people. Might not be as short sighted and shiney obsessed as the Skritt, but it'll be an option! :v

This sound causes me to reach for my greatsword, and yet I can't help but enjoy the quest line when they're not trying to gnaw my horns off and pelt me with bottles. It'll never happen, but here's hoping for skritt as a player race in a future expansion.

I'm very certain that tengu will be a playable race in the coming expansion. They're just kind of standing around, denying you entry to some places, but they're fully defined on a level equal to the other player races as far as character models go. Skritt on the other hand, sadly, didn't get nearly the same level of attention. In those few cases where you get a close up view of them in a cutscene the quality difference is plainly, and painfully, obvious.

Which makes me sad. They're hyper. They should have far more detail in their face meshes to allow all that shiny fueled excitement to show through.

I thought the intelligence-in-numbers gimmick was really interesting. It's not quite hive mind, but similar. Makes me wonder how that might come into play in a story mode in a future expansion, if they were playable.

There's nothing that explicitly says they're not eusocial though is there? They don't seem like they'd be capable of surviving for extended periods without the group, so they might well be hive minded.

Single skritt are rare, but completely capable of surviving. In Orr and in the latest living story, there are lone skritt used as assistants/errand runners and for the most part, they do fine. It's just the conversation/intelligence isn't as high and they are more likely to be distracted by somebody screaming "SHINY!" and throwing a bunch of polished coins.

It's just when you get them gathered in a place like skrittsburgh (Giant skritt city in Brisban highlands) there are so many of them they actually elect a king to lead, run expiraments, and are quite civilized compared to the smaller groups of 5-10 skritt.

IIRC, It's not a hive mind, they don't all share the same knowledge base or thoughts. It's just with larger groups, they can communicate more information faster, which raises their overall intelligence for the group. I believe a Skritt in Skrittsburgh says that.

Overall, a unique/interesting race. I mean, it's implied that in the past Skritt had groups large enough they were able to understand Asura tech, and maybe even reproduce it (Skrittburgh they are actually working on that with inquest parts).

Guild Wars 2 is one of the rare games that makes me equally, if not more, enamoured with the secondary races as I am the primary, player available ones. Skritt are spastic, hilarious and cute; Quaggon are adorably cute and amusing to just listen to; Kodan are sexy and mystical polar bears... It just goes on and on!

I can't wait to see more! I really like this pic, especially.

I love the skirtt. I wish they'd be a playable race but I don't think they ever will be. The one thing that makes them unique is the thing that makes them unplayable as a race.

I hope they make Skritt a playable race some year. I'd love to play a Skritt mesmer and be a one-skritt rat swarm.
