Journal Log, don’t care. Location, Finland, just passing through. Status, on the move again… like always. If only there was a walking equivalent to that “Frequent Fliers Miles” I heard about…
I left Pious behind in Germany. He was nice, but annoying so I turned down his offer to accompany me on my quest. He’ll do fine on his own. Anyway I’m still traveling to that legendary “Bloody Forest” I heard about and the magic it’s supposed to contain. Passed an… unusual town on the way. Apparently they’ve had a problem with kids drowning in a certain pond in this forest. Any kid old enough and stupid enough to get away from their parents (harder than it sounds, I had to sneak through lest I get thrown in another foundling home) and wander into this place is found drowned in one particular pond. Either way it’s not my problem so I’ll just…
“Oh little one? Cute baby fox?”
Reynard winced and growled before turning, ready to give whoever was referring to him like that a chewing out… only to blink in confusion. Just off the path was what looked like a marsh with a large murky pool of water surrounded by a few trees. Reynard’s attunement to nature told him it was formed by flooding fairly recently, maybe in the past ten years or so, and it was also telling him to stay the heck away from it. What surprised him though was the figure sitting on the banks of the pond.
It was a beautiful dog lady. He didn’t know much about breeds but she looked like a Spitz to him. She had blue green fur that almost sparkled in the light offset by soft blue white accents on her tummy, muzzle, and tail. Her hair was long and flowing falling down her back and onto her chest… which brought Reynard’s attention to another thing. She was stark naked and incredibly curvy with large breasts, hips, and bottom. The beautiful figure giggled softly and smiled kindly to him before motioning him over and patting the spot on the banks next to her.
“Come sweet little one, won’t you sit with me? The water is cool and pleasant.”
It wasn’t’ a well-kept secret but Reynard was… well… a bit of a pervert. He was young enough ladies didn’t worry about modesty around him meaning he got to appreciate the “Female Form” rather regularly… even if he didn’t have the “equipment” to do anything other than stare and hope they cuddled him. More than that Reynard loved the beautifully curved girls, not fat like in Gaia’s case, so this was like a dream come true as he stared at the lady, jaw slightly agape. He took a small step towards her.
******************
Näkki are a native finish spirit and just one in several classes of water spirits. Malevolent water spirits that is. They lurked in ponds, under bridges and piers, and wells existing for only one purpose. To lure unsuspecting and foolish children to the water’s edge so they could snatch and drown them. Like most elemental spirits they didn’t actually need to eat, surviving off the natural energies of their element… in this case their body of water, but the more children they drowned the stronger they got. Like most malevolent spirits they also got what amounted to a sick kind of pleasure out of the act.
Sini was one of these spirits and in her 8 years of existing had managed to rack up a count of nine children.
Young as far as water spirits go, having been formed eight years ago by a disastrous flood, Sini none the less had a lake sized ego. Considering herself the “Ruler” of the forest and the nightmare of the nearby village she delighted in her “Job” of snatching children. She took pride in each and every one of her kills and felt nothing but joy when the grieving villages found and retrieved their little waterlogged bodies. They were scared of her and her pond and she LOVED it!
This little fox would be her tenth victim and the youngest yet. Usually her prey were between five and eight… the ages when they’re smart enough to know better but stupid enough to ignore their parents warnings. This hound form was her personal favorite… the children got close to her just out of sheer confusion and curiosity and once they did it was over. She smiled, doing her best to keep up the sweet and non-threatening appearance, as the fox took another toddling step forward. Just a few more and she’d get to see what kind of face he made as water filled his lungs.
“... you really think I’d fall for that?”
“… what?”
Her façade dropped as she looked at the fox in confusion. His dopey expression had changed to a smug one you’d never expect to see a toddler wearing as he stepped back “I may not look it but my parents are spirits too you know.” The fox said, too well spoken to be a real baby “So I can see right through your act. You’re just a shape-shifting water spirit. One of the ones that drown people to gain more power right?” he asked as what Sini recognized as an Earth Mother spirit appeared next to the fox and shook her head disapprovingly “And a rather weak one at that, tell me little spirit are you the child killer?” the earth spirit asked.
That got Sini boiling, no pun intended, as she rose up as far as she could without leaving the pond “How DARE you speak to me like that! I am the Amazing and Beautiful SIni the strongest spirit in this forest you little pants pissing brat and fat cow!!” she snarled as both of them glared at her, still ranting she continued “Now BEG for forgiveness before I come over there and DESTROY you!!!” she finished, grinning madly and confident she’d inspired the proper fear of her into these fools.
“One, you can’t set foot out of that pond without losing most of your power. As long as we’re standing here you can’t do anything to us.” The fox said, ticking points off on his chubby fingers “Two, as far as spirit go you’re young and not that powerful. Don’t lie to me about it I can sense it clearly. And THREE I’m willing to bet there are several spirits in the forest powerful enough to hand you your butt, you’re just not worth the effort!” he finished, baring his little milk teeth at her in anger.
“YOU STUPID LITTLE RUGRAT! HOW DARE YOU SPEAK TO ME LIKE THAT! I OUGHT TO YANK THAT DIAPER DOWN AND PADDLE YOUR ASS TILL YOU BEG FOR MERCY! I’LL CHOKE YOU TO DEATH WITH YOUR OWN TOYS! YOU HEAR ME YOU LITTLE DIAPER BRAT!? I’M GOING TO BEAT YOUR LITTLE ASS!!!”
****************
There were a few things that could really piss Reynard off… talking down to him for instance, calling him little, bringing his diaper up more than needed… more than anything though he hated being threatened with spankings. It had only happened to him twice in his 18 years of existence when he’d messed up royally… and he shuddered every time he remembered it. This water spirit had managed to bring up all of them in an amazingly short amount of time. He initially didn’t really care about doing anything to stop her, the kids being drowned weren’t HIS problem… but now? This was a personal vengeance.
Letting Sini, Sani, or whatever her name was continue ranting he reached into his pouches and pulled out the prayer slips he’d stored there. He actually didn’t know the full theory or concept of how these things worked (back home everybody told him he’d learn it when he was older. Another think that ticked him off) but he managed to figure out how to use them by watching others. With them he could just barely seal demons and evil spirits or create barriers that kept evil out… neither of which he was any good at. Luckily he’d discovered another use of them through trial and error… mostly error.
He peeled one off the top of the stack and held it in his chubby paw for a moment before casually tossing it into the pond past the still ranting Sini. She paused for a moment to watch the slip of paper float down and settle before laughing and looking back at Reynard “What the heck was THAT supposed to…” she stopped mid-sentence, a shocked look on her face, before letting out an unearthly scream as her body shook like a water balloon before dissolving into the pond water it was formed from as the entire body of water rippled violently. Gaia watched this for a moment before looking to Reynard.
“Okay… what the hell did you just do?”
“… first thing I learned how to do with these slips is how to screw up spiritual energies with them. Can’t actually HURT anything but since I messed up the flow of energy in the pond, which she was pulling power from, she couldn’t hold her form and that happened.”
“… not bad, guess you do have your moments. What are you going to do for an encore?”
“Make her suffer.” Reynard said simply as he was pulling various herbs and the rattle he used in his shamanism rituals out of his pouches. Gaia waited till after he’d constructed a crude fire with twigs and a foxfire before asking “… what? You going to summon up a spirit to go beat up on her?” she asked as Reynard began tossing handfuls of the dried herbs into the fire producing plumes of smoke. He just grinned wickedly “Nope… I’m conducting a ritual usually used to summon up a weaker spirit and bind it in a solid form to be a familiar.” He said, shaking the rattle rhythmically as he tossed more herbs into the fire as the smoke started to change color “My modified version of it that its…”
“… modified?”
“Yep… for one I’m not gonna gain power from this spirit and in turn it won’t gain power from me. Think of it as my version of trapping a spirit in a physical form. It’ll still have its powers… but it’ll be limited by its body and unable to transform into anything else till I die, release it, or it gets enough power to break the spell.”
“… you’re not gonna…”
Reynard just grinned wickedly as he began to chant in time with the rattle shakes. The silhouette of Sini appearing in the smoke as another form started to take shape around her.
****************
“Yu! Yu! Yu!!! Yu’ll pay fo dis! I s-sweaw it! Yu… poopyhead! … wait… why did I call yu dat? I wanted tu say somthin else!”
Reynard was rolling with laughter as he watched Sini helplessly flounder about in her new body. He’d kept her dog form at least as the now one year old spitz puppy sat unhappily in the shallow part of the pond and lisped threats at him. His cruel sense of humor had made him add a thick swim diaper and pink one piece swimsuit with a skirt around the middle to her new form as well as having her still long hair done up in pigtails. He’d like to see her try and drown any kids like THAT!
“Oh don’t be a baby.” Reynard said, snickering at finally getting to use that line on somebody smaller than him “You still have your powers after all, you can swim and breath underwater… you just can’t turn back into it or change shape! And look at it this way, now you can leave the pond without losing power with that new body. I believe you owe me a thank you.” He said smugly as he ducked a clumsily thrown rock from the puppy.
Undaunted he continued “Of course your free to try and keep drowning kids here, I bet they’ll be even more inclined to come over and see what you’re doing here. Heck if you drown enough of them you may be able to break the spell… provided they don’t take you back home and you end up in an orphanage. Cause I sure as heck ain’t changing you back!” he added with a giggle before waving mockingly and turning to leave “Oh and one more thing… don’t call me a baby.” He said before walking away. Ignoring the furious screams of the trapped water spirit Reynard sauntered off, swaggering as best he could in thick diapers, while whistling happily. Gaia floated next to him for a moment before speaking.
“You DO realize you inflicted the same fate you’re trying so hard to escape on somebody… right?”
“… your point is?”
“… I’d make a pot calling the kettle black referencing using diapers about hypocrisy but I think it’d go over your little head.”
“Don’t call me little.”
“Yeah, yeah I heard… less you can learn to change your own diapers you can forget trying to threaten me.”
“… darn it…”
