The hearsay you're following is probably because as a swatch its just not impressive. Its manufactured with the fur spaced out, and that sparseness is actually an advantage, it makes it SO flowy and spikey it has such good movement because of that! If it were any denser you'd lose that flowy movement. I love it I love it I love it.

Yeah I've been wanting to try it out! But was hesitant by what others have said, and I think it was solely based on the swatches they received. Now I will definitely give monkey shag a shot!

(random question) what type of black fur do you personally think would be best for an all-black realistic wolf head? :P Trying to choose between DF and Fox but I like both, unless there is something better out there.

Ohh, I dunno! Realistic suits aren't really my specialty, but I'd imagine a coarser fur would be better, like fox in this case may be more appropriate compared to the "promo shag" really soft thick stuff that DF carries. DF carries /some/ realistic furs now, but I don't think they come in solid black.

can the monkey shag still look good shaved? Sorry for so many replies, I'll stop if I'm bugging you. xD

Monkey Shag is really meant to be left long, its not going to have the same look if shaved its best to go with just using a shorter pile in its place. Though certainly experiment with it to test it out and find its limits for your particular project.

That looks really awesome! Out of curiosity, how did you get the curl? Is it just multiple pieces of fur sown together for the top part (as I've seen a lot of people do), or do you do something else?

Yes, it is multiple pieces of fur sewn together, but it is also a half inch foam shell on the interior so it is both lightweight and waggy. Basically most of the tail is hollow, though I did stuff the tailbase with a little polyfil.
