The Big South Fork Scenic Railway stores and repairs it's equipment in the original steam repair shop of the K&T Railway the scenic railroad currently runs over. This building was used to maintain a fleet of steam engines owned by the K&T operating out of Stearns. These engines included the famous Southern Railway #4501 which at one time was K&T #12. The K&T operated steam as late as 1964 when it purchased a fleet of ALCO S-1 diesels.
Today this building is still serving its original purchase as currently housed inside is an under restoration ALCO 0-6-0 which will become K&T #14 and will be used to haul the railroads excursion trains.
