Here are some fun little statistics on the Iowa Class Battleships, seen in the display area next to the gift shop.
Note how inexpensive the USS Iowa is compared to modern warships --- at only $1.5 Billion to construct, it's barely 50% more expensive than each of the Arleigh Burke class Destroyers, which the US Navy is committed to buying at least 75 of. At ~$99 Million/year to operate, the Iowa Class Battleships that the US Navy's (Br)asshats purport to be "too expensive to retain" cost only 3x as much per-year to operate as the Cruisers, Destroyers, and Submarines that the Navy presently operates over 100 of.
Another fun fact to consider is that the Tomahawk missile that has "replaced" the Battleship's big guns costs over $2 Million a pop, is only 1/4 warhead by weight (the latter of which is only 1000lbs), takes a half-hour to program, can't attack moving targets or on line-of-sight, and requires at least 75 seconds to cover 10 miles. An Arleigh Burke class Destroyer can only carry up to 96 of them, but only in the same cells as it's vaunted SAMs and anti-sub rockets.
By contrast, a 16in shell costs only $500, weighs between 1800lbs and 2700lbs (and is 100% warhead by-weight), requires only minutes to develop a firing solution, can and HAS attacked moving and/or line-of-sight targets, and requires only 20 seconds to cover 10 miles. An Iowa class Battleship carries 1200 of them, which can be extended to over 2000.

Nothing says "Bitch? Please." quite like a Battleship.
Or to put it another way, put the coastline of your choice in the background of this image, and watch the enemy's resistance wither;

It's kind of hard to do either if you're getting blown-part.
The Iowas would definitely excel in suppressing piracy though, because their primary effort would be doing what Battleships arguably do better than any other weapon --- intimidation. Nothing says "Bitch? Please" as effectively as an image like this;

And if orders came-in to eliminate a confirmed pirate hide-out...;

Speaking of Somalia, remember that nasty battle in Mogadishu that Task Force Ranger endured in 1992 (subject of the book "Blackhawk Down")? The entire combat zone was within 2 miles of the shore;

The 16in/50 Mk.7 has a demonstrated range of over 24 miles (will within reach) --- with first-round pinpoint accuracy AT that range (minimal collateral damage, despite the payload).
