some companies offer healthcare as a benefit to employees. My Old job as a bagger/cashier at a grocery store had basic healthcare for all employees who worked for over a year with the company. I mean you couldn't get much from it, but things like doctor visits, xrays, ultrasounds ect. were all covered. better than nothing right? i mean idk what you do but it's worth looking into, and if your company doesn't offer it, try rallying up a bunch of employees who believe in this as well. You'd be surprised at the amount of companies who give health care benefits as a result of employees acting upon getting it. especially if you know your company can afford it. :p

oh trust me, it was shitty. my old location was good, but when i transfered the job just became shitty. the managers and owners didn't give a fuck about the employees, and it was left to the store director to offer or opt out of the company's health care program. guess which store opted out?

regardless, Winn Dixie (the company i worked for) only recently got a health care program within the past 2 years, i think due to the fact corporate officials had a health care plan in their benefits, while higher end managers and in-store officials did not, despite the fact that a lot of the in-store managers and directors made more income and held higher positions than corporate workers, so the fair thing to do (after receiving many complaints) would be to either cut the health care program, or make it open for anyone to benefit. any employee for the Winn Dixie company can apply for the health care program after 52 weeks of employment with the company. I never applied because i'm under my dad's company's healthcare, which covers my whole family, but many employees took advantage of it. It paid for check-ups, dental cleanings, some prescriptions, but like i said, anything is better than nothing, and if you work for a big company that you know could probably afford it, you can get together with coworkers and see if the company would be willing to give healthcare benefits to its workers. The worst they could do is say no, but persistence really pays. It also helps if you're a good rallier. :p

that's the world, sad to say. But like i said, "no" is the worst they do. a lot of companies might even be forced to buy into healthcare from what i understand do to the new Obama health care reform. we'll just have to wait and see, but you can always hope. :3

you and Scarlett_Engel are in the same boat. it pisses me off that people with obvious potential are overlooked because of stupid reasons, like they don't have a car, or their "lack" of experience, which you kind of can't get unless someone HIRES YOU. >.< and i'll tell you that girl was willing to walk a mile and a half to and from work if she had to and still couldn't get a job. -_- it sucks.
