My entry for a contest on dA, I won 2nd place ^^
The sun was shining bright on desert. Lone women stood in silence and watched corpse of her dead horse. Bandits. They killed her stallion, stole valuables and left her on desert to a certain death. No human nor any other alive being was here. She knew where to go, but she couldn’t get to nearest oasis or civilization without a mount. She whispered hopelessly and looked on the horizon.
And she saw something.

Blue wanted to know, how it’s like to be on the loose. He decided to go out - and now he regret it. He didn’t know what he is doing here, but he know one thing - he got lost and he has to comeback. But how? There was no life around. Until he saw something on the horizon... it was a two-legged animal - human.

The horse went toward the girl. She was staying and watching him with surprise on her face.
'I can’t believe my eyes' she thought, ' Did God send him to me or something?'. It looked like it, because how to explain, that she needed a horse in middle on the desert and the horse appeared suddenly?
But Blue stopped. He smelled scent of the death. Then he looked at corpse and got scared. He neighed and started to panic.
' No! Wait, don’t be scared! Nobody will hurt you now!' she said - she couldn’t let him run away now. She have to calm him. Every minute was important. She got her bottle of water and showed him. Blue didn’t drink anything for long time and the thirst won over the fear...
Next the stallion started to ponder - the girl wasn’t the one who killed the horse. It was her horse. She needs help. They both need.
They looked each other into eyes and Blue noticed something - usually darker skinned humans have dark eyes, but she has blue eyes exactly as he. The horse understood that they have to cooperate. And it looks like she saw it.
' I don’t know your name, but after seeing your eyes I will call you Blue, okay?’ she smiled.
Blue did a sound like he want to laugh - yes, he was happy with his „new” name.
She prepared him to the ride, and they went together with new hope.
Will they comeback to their homes?
