There was once a Hyral child. 100% lupine but unlike his parents, he wasn't the same. He could never stand upright and while he was being taught, he insisted on using his hands. Even after he a rd oast the semester one learns to walk and talk, he still couldn't do either. By the time he was 6 in countable years, his physically Ideal parents finally accept that their son is not. So, as common practice, they set their somewhat disabled sum out on his own.
The problem with Hyrals, like him, is that they lack functionality in a few ways; they can easily be compared to "missing links" of their own species, the in-betweens of Feral and the Ideal Anthro. Luckily for Atroce, he wasn't stupid. And he happened to have thumbs, giving him the 1up as he raised himself. He knew exactly why he was left behind and used the facts as fuel to continue.
On his own he taught himself to stand upright--for the most part--and figured out the simple parts of the universal languange all while he constantly grew in height and mass. Once he learned just enough speech to get the point across, he sought to learn a trade in a town he wasnt born in, once he'd done that, he could prove to all the Ideals that even Hyrals can function like them.
The only trade he could find that required little to no speech skill was smithing. He found himself a mentor who spoke almost as little as Atroce did; a giant boar named Point. By now, atroce was 7 feet tall and feral from the middle of his torso and down, and the rest of him ideal. His muscular build plus his thumbs made him the perfect candidate for a blacksmith's successor. In just a little more time than it would have taken an Ideal to master it, Atroce became legendary.
After his success, other Hyrals began to revere him. A formerly small invalid, like them, not only grew to tower over the Ideals (8feet) but walks and talks like them as well. The unwritten tale of Atroce inspired all Hyrals to be better than missing links. Instead of endeavoring to survive alone, they formed their own society, like the mamalians, only a whole different faction.
Atroce doesn't have the capacity to run a legion, but he doesn't see the harm in the little guy looking up to him. Occasionally, he makes miniature armors for the Hyrals and humors their offerings and praises. He can only understand the canid language fully, but he can make assumptions for the noisy felines.
Needless to say, some Mamalians don't accept Atroce, but not because he is a Hyral, but because he really ISNT. With the exception of his overly muscular physique, Atroce very closely resembles a Werewolf. An AparitiAn, that doesn't belong amongst Mamalians. In light of his honest intentions to work like a normal Mamalian, all attempts to kill him are announced duels. But no matter who he fights, assassins, knights, archers, he always not only wins but seems to be fully functional the day after. Save for his scars, it would appear as if he never fought. Luckily, the challanges are by only a few, and sporatic at best, by brave fools with something to prove.
