Different cages
I am hoping I doing the right thing as I have not had two budgies in a while the last one was mean and bite me bad and could have hurt sherbert
=x= it was from the pet shop where I got sherbert but I gave the budgie to a small pet rescue as I could not have the heart to take it back.

omg cutie! <3 Is She had tamed and how long did you have her? How old is she? Does she like to hang around with ya outside her cage?
I have 3 (used to have 4, but the "old lady" died ;w;)
We have a yellow one with 2 balck dots (hes sorta a domino look on him), His name is Twinkie Madness XD
And the other 2 are females, a white, black and dark blue we call Derp (Cause she screams when we take her out for a flight and looks like this: "<v>" when we hold her XD) and the other looks just like your Sherbert, but shes a very young one compared to the others (Shes only 8 months to the other twos 2-3 yr old estimation) and we call her Downy, like the fabric softener XD

Oh yes hand tame 100% and goes out a lot and often in mornings or early afternoons when she sees me Shrbert climbs down to her cage door and waits for me to open it or she playfullyrattles the door with her beak which her way saying "me out" >w< she only does that if I am taking me sweet time or when I have to dash out for errands ^//^
but let her out when I come back.
Sherby was a 9 week old chick ^^ in 20th september 2011 so she will be 4 late summer this year.I kind of rescued her from a pet shop as she was been
bullied by the other budgies as she was the runt of the brood many over food and water, even though they came from a breeder as they had rings on their legs
Sherbert has a deep blue ring on her leg. I had budgies before but my first tame one was "Ecco" he came from my dad's friend whom was a breeder, I had him from been 9 and he could talk really good but sadly past away from cancer when I was 16, I wanted another budgie but circumstances didn't allow. Thus Sherbert is my first budgie in 17 years which I did get book to recap and did other research.
Female budgies depending can be more tricky and hissy to tame but just need hard work along with persistence (though some times boy budgies can be... though its normally rare for them to be little cow bags which is usually the lack of human contact )
and research to stop them biting.
Sherby only took 3 weeks to finger tame and was a good baby she did had a grumpy teen phase which was a bit of drag but it phases out and keep social and let her have space too but also teaching her not to fear other people I had to teach my other half Ian when he came to live with me
how to handle her and sherbert was a bit unsure but curious at the same time but in time like about 3 to 4 months she loves Ian and even bugs him to let her out when I not around or if I am ill.
couple of videos ^^
sherbert first day out of cage at the time I thought he was a boy till I found out some female budgies have a mist blue noses with patches of white round the nostrils.

aww!! Sherbert sounds like a very happy and social birdie :D 17 years is a long time without a bird, but you made up for it in research, love, and caring for your birdie owo Would love to see more videos of the little gal :) She's very content with ya if shes grooming herself on ya like tht :3 as well as singing to you :D
These birds i got were actually a gift from my neighbor, since he had too many birds to begin with, so he gave us three: Twinkie, Derp, and Old Lady. All 3 of them talked to each other sometimes and every once in a while, fight or chase around each other. Maybe cause the cage might be too small for them? IDK, but currently me and my sister are saving up for a nice big cage (One made for large parrots, thats like 50-75$). We had them for about 2 years before old lady died. Then My mom, seeing as how sad we were, surprised me and sissy with a new bird, Downy. She was about 6 months when we got her, and now she's 8 and a half months. The other 2 are now about 3 years old.
We were still sad about our old bird, but was happy to getting a new bird friend at the same time. Now its been 3 years for the 2 older birds, and a few months for the baby bird :)
I don't have videos of em yet, but I can take pictures of em adn show ya when I get the chance to. I envy you tho. The Male known as Twinkie Madness is highly unsociable and runs away from you, and screams when you touch him, and when he flies, he hits walls alot. Derp comes out and behaves sometimes, and is very vocal, screaming, tweeting, or doing the "AHHHH AHHHH!" while doing the "<v>" face; But also has a mind of her own, almost always flying back to the cage, asking to be put back inside. Downy, the Youngest one, is pretty social, you can pet her and rub her beak and cheek feathers, but always wants to go back to the cage as well. IDK why they would wanna. We even bribe em with treats to stay out longer, but after they are done with the food, they fly back XD.
Was thinking about trimming their wings, just so they can stay and hang with us without flying off. My sister say no, that they need to fly to get some exercise, but then i told her its temporary, and their feathers do grow back every few weeks. Not sure what to do. Any recommendations?

Hello again ^w^
It has been a long wait for a new budgie but the 17 years has been worth it and I will post the new vids shortly some time tomorrow as just nearly finished moving into new home.
Sherbert will be getting a new cage at some point so she can have space for toys as she only got ladders with a bell and her cuttle fish
her favourite treat is fresh strawberries and special treat sticks ^w^
It be best to separate the boy budgie "Twinkle"
so you can tame him easier so keep the old cage for Twinkle and work with him till he is tame it be a while but not impossible as it be much better for him once he understands your hand is not the villain also if he does the angry dolphin sounds say no or naughty boy firmly but calm voice
Also don't be afraid if Also let him bite if you let em bite you and don't react to it they realize it has no affect and give up on biting,
as usually they nip once but if they latch on which some can use a small bottle that sprays a light mist of clean plan luke warm water or better still blow on their nose which budgies do sneeze on each other with puffs of air to be polite to each other saying no.
The little "tss" sound usually normal It cleans out their nose. I wouldn't be concerned if you aren't noticing any other signs of illness, like runny nose, watery droppings, wheezing, lethargy etc. They will often do this after bathing, if the air is dry, or if they have something (like dust) in their nostrils
Take him out of the cage and bring him to a room that he cant see his cage. Same goes for your other two lady budgies they will chill more when they can not see their cage.
If they see their cage they want to be in it or on it.
Also remove any mirrors they make budgies more aggressive thinking they are another budgie and makes them more likely to bite you as they think they are protecting the fake budgie from you.
Best advice I can give you is to watch videos how to tame untamed budgies
this a good example for general training this owner has a group of budgies
and this video is for an ex-aviary budgie

Also I agree with your sister please don't clip their wings as it makes them more fearful and less trusting to you, and trust combined with good old fashioned patience is the key. Hope it helps you
Ahh then good :) I heard birds need a good amount of cage space to be happy overall. We have this 2 by 2 cage that houses 3 budgies, but again, saving up for a big cage :) How long did it take you to tame Sherbert? Also my birds dont eat fruit offered to them :/ however, they do eat boiled cooled-down eggs once in a while (2 times a month) for extra vitamins and stuff. I might try giving them fruit the next time im out and buying stuff.
I try to take him out and going into the bathroom (I make sure the toilet is covered and such) and I try to talk to him there, giving him little pets on his chest and wing, if he lets me. I do this about an hour before putting him back into his cage. Should i Give him some mullet spray as a treat for being outside with me?
Also, I let the girls fly around the house for 30 min. I try to keep an eye on em, but they love flying and hiding from me ;w; I try to talk to them when i can whether they are on my finger or not, to let em know my voice.
Twinkie Does Sneeze alot on me XD and a little spray gets on me, but i think he's letting me know "politely" that he doesnt agree with me taking him out of the cage lol.
We have 2 mirrors in the cage; I will take them out. They Have cuttle bone and some other little toys like ball bells and stuff, which they love.
All of them are very healthy birds; singing, no signs of watery anything, and very active in flying (except Twinkie, the boy. He's a very bad Flyer)
Ill try to encore the biting, but the young girl, Downy, Bites hard for a young bird. I try to encore it, but sheese...Ill keep at it tho!
The videos help alot. I try these methods and hope they will work. But we wont have another cage for a while (1-2 months from now).
I wont trim the wings, if it helps with trust. Ill just try and be patient. Ill count to 100 or sumthing since my patience isn't alot but it aint short either ^^;;
Thanks for the advice :)

No trouble hun as you want to get know your budgies and taming them will make them happy just as much as you be happy and open doors to do more things together. ^w^
Sherbert took 3 and half weeks to finger tame which I thought would take longer as she was with other budgies but I guess since she came from a breeder before the pet shop she must have had a bit of human contact. The tickle taming took 2 months in baby steps like slowly moving your finger near there face and keep it still and talking to them while doing so, also watch budgies how they bond while they groom each other, some times I tickle Sherbert with tip of my nose
(clean of course and I never do it if I got a cold) she nuzzles her cheek on my nose some times but likes to nuzzle my cheeks or fingers most.
Least your working on saving for new cage so don't feel guilty ^w^
some budgies don't get pampering and socialising they should have
as some people are selfish and ignorant "oh just stick em in a cage and feed em talk to them a little" =x=
well people like that should just have goldfish or tropical fish if they want to have ornament pets.
Lol boiled eggs sounds interesting might try it for Sherbery unless she wants her fruit I am going to try her on peaches on next food shopping day xd.
The bathroom or bedroom sounds good place to train Twinkle so be sure to have a little spray bottle with you, also for the annoying biting problems for both Tinkle and Downy especially as its best to nip biting in the bud while she is young,
you can make your own bitter spray with freshly squeezed lemons ( 2 lemons and mix it with luke warm water as lemon is bitter and sour it be best to spray your hand first before you put your finger in to take him out as when he bites he will then do a similar action to sneezing like going eew at the taste will take a for him to get the message your finger is not a chew toy can still talk to him
such as "ah see not nice heh? its not a bed of roses when your been hissy" its the tone not the words though budgies do copy the sounds of the words you make as the love sounds and music that interests them much like people, sherbert enjoys 80's and 90's music which she is most active to lol classic music is a bed or chill out time.
so having a digital radio is best comfort for both solo budgies and groups as silence makes them less mellow )
It will be hard to be patient but its first stepping stone into taming and I stopped counting a long time ago I find it distracts me more so have the radio playing to your favourite music channel while taming plus it usually helps budgie chill a bit more but not too loud of course lol.
Hope it helps your chickies
