Just stumbled across this photo....various mail samples I have done. The top is copper (gee, really? :-P) the right it twisted steel, the bottom is 'doubled' mail, and the left is aluminum and copper. I don't work in aluminum at all...that was just a gift of wire from someone that I told them I would use.

Yep, I do mail!
Trying to find more examples now...
I us diagonal pliers, but don't cut all the way through. I nick them and then snap them off. It's a good technique, but a PIA to get down properly. I've been making mail for almost 18 years, though, so I have had a bit of practice. :-D
