This is a sort of promotional poster for my story Resist. Here we see a Desert Drone in full dress with the traditional hooded cloak, torn by years of labor in the near unbearable heat. In its hands is the traditional plow with a sharpened blade for cutting and gripping weeds, which is a tool that could be the difference between life or death when harvest comes. Desert Drones are small, nomadic groups that survive by farming in the harsh deserts where no enemies would dare trespass (if anyone would want to conquer a desert). They are feared for their intelligence and their cunning, but above all, they are not the cowards most Drones are. When the war began, just take a guess who volunteered.

M, this is good. I like your description on the background of this. Having been familiarized with history, I have come to know that farmers are in fact a faction of regional society that are hardy and diligent in nature. One may assume that your average student community having graduated from education with a jock profile would be suitable for a future in a military, but that simply isn't the case. There are other groups of individuals who have the naturally-acquired tendency to cope with hardship and labor. That, and there being a big difference between fighting for the purposes of being in action and protecting what is yours would go to show who is who.
I get a good tingly feeling that you could reveal to us actual different guises of your Drones. So far, I've been audience to your characters as they have ties to the more urban environments of your universe - now, I see that the desert comes into display. I like it, a lot. This drone here looks intimidating, to me, but in the way you illustrated him, or her, there is an expression of unknown obligation behind that wonderfully torn cloak, and it feels as though it stems from neutral to benign. That harvesting instrument...it is very interesting, almost, decorate, or, meretricious. Oh, but, no - I won't deny that it might serve as a lethal weapon if you had intended it. Great job, overall.
I like your hand at art, Shadow. I connect that it is meticulous to make even the most concealed and thinnest of details stand out, and, yes - a blur effect is highly effective and serious here. These are techniques of drawing that are very close to the way I wish to draw someday, aside from what I see in large figures of history. Keep it up, man!

Thank you so much for the analysis and the kind words! Desert Drones are indeed quite cryptic, heck they even have their own language (a variation of the normal Formic language known commonly as the "Desert" tongue/dialect), but contrary to legend, they are actually quite welcoming. Travelers that get lost are often rescued by scouting Desert Drones, and they tend to be quite charitable (offering shelter when entering the city slums and even giving money/resources; this is how they maintain their clans' populations, through recruiting). Oh how long I could go about them lol!
Anyways, thank you so much for the compliments!
I want to see more of your art btw!!!!! I think you're better than you give yourself credit!
