Aww. I find that ideas come more freely when you are regularly drawing - your mind will be in the receptive mode. So perhaps you need to grind a bit for a while to get there. Ponies are a great way to go anyway, because just deciding to draw a pony can be fun enough to get you started. Plus, then the internet benefits from seeing more of your ponies!
If you have to create - having the artist's need/curse - there should be ways to make the process enjoyable. When you hate your results it may be that you're not allowing yourself to relax into the creation or are too concerned with the results. Enjoy your art and the result becomes a bit more secondary, but also better. Sorry if I seem preachy, gosh, this just happens. But really, there are ways to enjoy your ponying.
Not a problem. Not going to blame you for trying to help.
Anyways, believe me, I've tried. Large part of why I'm drawing ponies so much lately, in fact.
Especially hard the past few days, though, considering every time I try to draw for more than a few minutes, I end up too tired to focus my eyes for more than a few seconds at a time. Don't know what's up with that.

Perhaps you're doing too much other things and your brain and/or body is just exhausted? Yesterday I could barely do anything.. my body was just fed up with my wicked ponying ways and demanded I do nothing at all. I still forced some work out, of course. But if you can find yourself energized I would expect your eyes to stay open, so you'd only need to motivate yourself!
Not sure what else I could say, but I empathise with that frustration. I hope you'll find your groove. Perhaps I'm more sympathetic because you have a Scootaloo icon. I wouldn't put it past myself. :D

Oh, definitely. Keeping my job is kind of important, though. :P And although it provides much more immediate gratification, drawing isn't liable to be as useful to me in the long term as if I can ever finish my other projects (mostly programming).
Scootaloo is amazing like that.

Well.. I suppose that job thing might be important. Pff. :D
But I can tell from how you describe your creative process and the way you draw Scootaloo's mane that you're an artist too.. so, I'm sure you wouldn't dispute that drawing is useful for you in the long run too, even if you like your job. In the wise words of someone I just made up entirely just for a quirky quote setup, "Go forth and be free to pony."
