Paw Fashion: 'Striker' football boot
The Paw Fashion Project returns! At least a little. After having fun designing the football boots (a.k.a. soccer shoes) in my 'Striker' drawing (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/8727958/) I figured I should do a proper version of them as part of the Project.
This particular piece of paw-wear is designed to pad and protect one's paws when playing football/soccer, featuring an off-centre lacing to maximize the ideal kicking area and metal studs to grip the pitch.

Me too! It's a lot of fun, and various sorts of anthros present interesting challenges to deal with like wings, tails, and digitigrade paws. I started this whole project because I didn't think there was enough dragon footwear out there, but I can well imagine that llamas must have even fewer examples, sadly!

Some of the comments on the original drawing addressed that too. ;) The way I figure it, when you're kicking a football properly you're using the top and sides of your foot rather than the tips of your toes. If nothing else that would HURT! So unless something went very wrong with the kick, the claws would be curled back away from the ball and not be very likely to contact it in a way that would tear it. Of course, in sports things don't always go as planned so I'm sure there would be spare calls kept at the ready on the side of the pitch too! The risk of a clawed ball didn't seem severe enough to me to justify covering up the toes and making you lose the grip and balance they'd naturally give ya. ^^

hehe, I have to think that if anthros actually started playing the game there would be a bit of a rules overhaul, and shoe design would be one of the lesser issues to be addressed when you consider the presence of wings and tails, and possibly digitigrade paws being able to kick with a lot more power...
I suppose it's a risk, though that's why I can only assume shin guards would exist here too. Something taller like a basketball shoe feels to me like although you'd gain a bit more protection, you'd lose a lot of agility and range of motion and it wouldn't be worth the trade-off. Of course, if you feel differently feel free to design your own. ^^
Glad you approve! :) Sportswear is always fun to design because it gives me an excuse to play with bright colours and such. The padding is modelled off of real-world designs, so yeah, makes sense for what you'd be using them for plus I just like the look of it. And yes, showing off toes is very important! ^^
Heee! I'm glad ya like. :) A lot of the design elements were inspired directly from an Adidas shoe I own and love the styling of, so I'm sure that's a lot of it, but I really do try to design them to be something that could actually work. ^^ And if you ever were to make any somehow, dibs on a pair. ;D
