Here's a doodle of the late 1995 rising of Mercury. I was in a good place to see it, the Loco Hills of New Mexico. You could see Mercury come up, and also see the profile of El Capitan, the 245-million year old Permian reef complex, now a big ass mountain and the highest point in Texas.
It was a very Frank Herbert moment, what with the CHOAM company drilling in the wasteland for the spice. Now that the spice is hitting $100 a barrel, I'm thinking they're gonna run out of customers.
Ignore the flighty-sounding poetry; the only message I can claim to have heard was the realization that:
a.) you ain't going to make any money doing this
b.) so, do you like having all your fingers? then GTFO...
