The moltres/raxis is a stretch. It seems like they are interpreting the flames of moltres' wings as though they were solid with holes in them. If raxis was supposed to have flames for wings he kinda didn't look like he did in game. Never saw his card artwork though. But I rarely see brown fire. :/ Raxis also looks ridiculously reptilian.
Wailord and oranthan flyer are both whales...might as well shove an image of a blue or humpback whale next to them.
Doduo/darbok, yes.
Whirlipede/giant parmalag, oh hello pill bugs which are actually crustaceans but no one seems to want to admit to that and so they are bugs to everyone.
Galvantula/Szalak....tarantulas with four legs instead of eight. Wanna throw ariados in there too? :3 Though he had six and was just a spider in general. (stripey spider)
Gyarados/Monsoon Hyren, both are water dragons... Gyarados' flying ability makes sense as he's based on a chinese dragon (thus the whiskers and all that jazz), it's actually strange that he doesn't have legs. The other guy has them though. You know a better comparison for similarity in design to Monsoon Hyren would actually be Rayquaza. He's not water type though.
Soooo yeah... Knowing what the creatures are based on makes the similarities rather stupid and obvious and I REALLY hope no one is saying pokemon copied magi nation because that would be retarded. I doubt the reverse is true either despite supposedly being made to compete with pokemon.
I think really, this just shows a lack of creativity on both sides, if anything. Basing off the same creatures resulted in very similar designs. *gasp*
