This cover depicts the two chess masters behind the events circling around the two women in the foreground. On the right, Zucca Xerfantes, interdimensional traveler and thrice-hybrid.
On the left, the mysterious entity composed of Dark Matter and energy known only as Prisoner 472, more spirit than being, and possessing seemingly supernatural abilities, yet does not hold ill will against Zucca, considering him a worthy opponent.
Below and to the left, Catherine Sonora, master strategist, Captain of the Argonaut, as seen in the background, a mighty starship built using means both of masterful engineering and arcane mysteries. Even its integrated A.I., Yno-OP5 has no idea what the vessel is capable of. Catherine herself has long been friends with Aries Passadar, recruiting her aboard her ship to serve as commander and XO, her right hand and ground leader. She is calm under fire, a singularly gifted marksman and never enters a room without figuring on eight ways to leave it. Despite this brilliance, she harbors an intense mental illness that manifests itself from time to time. The illness does not debilitate her however and her iron will to see her crew safe and her assignments as a mercenary captain complete have earned her and her crew a place of honor among all the reaches of the Confederation.
As her side is Aries Passadar, Executive Officer of the Argonaut after Catherine asked her to join the crew. A mercenary blessed and cursed with Hellfire in her very blood, she has become the fixation of the dark entity known as Prisoner 472. In single combat she has no equal. Able to overpower any and all opposition. Reportedly dead after an engagement to free thousands of slaves, it is said her death was highly exaggerated. She carries her two most prized possessions, the mystic sword Dragonlash and a pistol blessed by the holiest twelve priests in the world, Witchfire, has the words, and Aries' mantra, etched on the barrel. 'I shall fear no evil.'
And below them, the planet Catherine is destined to be Empress upon...
