i am currently starting a rebirth of the Hawaiian spear fighting style. using my background as a kendoist in tandem with information from lua practitioners i am redeveloping the style.

one cannot learn to fight without fighting, kendo gains its great advantage because the armor and specialized training weapons allow for full contact sparring. while lua practitioners have done great things to rebuild our fighting arts, they do not, to my knowledge, fully spar with weapons. so i created this beauty, using broken shinai pieces and other materials, and am putting together armor as well. once done it will be possible to fight full contact with minimal injury.

it is certain my ancestors would have used the weapon in the most sensible way possible. the logic being that once i have figured out the very most sensible way to wield this weapon, through full contact, full effort, full aggression fighting, i will arrive at roughly the same style my kupuna used long ago.
