As you can see, Xyk is a rather impulsive coyote, tending to completely ignore imminent doom when confronted with something gratifying. Here, he makes his acquaintance with Mitch’s deadly red squirrel, Gwyneth.
My guess is that this touching moment was rather short-lived.
