That's how elves work in all my settings. I change around almost everything else, but I don't like the idea of being a child for centuries (or worse yet, being in diapers for decades).

Or could you imagine decades/centuries going through puberty? The acne, greasy skin, mood swings- worse than being a kid IMO.

I'm actually working up detailed info on the world the stories take place in. The races, kingdoms, gods, types of magick- the whole nine.

Nifty. I'm starting to do a similar thing for a world I'm writing stories in, but as it's currently shaping up that causes continuity problems in what I've already written; but then, I've only got three chapters on a second draft so it's not like it'll be hard to fix. I'm building the setting out of game mechanics, then writing the stories as though those mechanics were exactly how the setting's physics work.

Nifty. I'm trying to avoid game mechanics, personally. I keep worrying that I'm gonna rip off from the Elder Scrolls games because, you know, I play them A LOT. Thankfully the bulk of the story came about in my mind before I'd even HEARD of TES, so I'm pretty safe. And where there are similarities, like the Forest and Ice Elves, the differences are bigger than the similarities.
