This is shaping out nicely.
At first glance the arms didn't bother me until I've read your description. But I think you are right about their length vs. the rest of the body.
My centre of balance is unsupported, You might want to either prop something under my torso (or at least secure my arms to something behind me) or I'll fall forward .... lower than you'd want me to

Well I can tell right away what animals they are so good job on that side of things.
Arms are little long, but you only need to shorten them at the sholder.
I would probably make the cat's hands and feet bigger and turn his right toes to face the bear a tiny bit.
But looking good so far!
