Well, that's what happens when you give heroes swords the size of shovels.

It felt the same way the first time I lifted a real forged blade. I was amazed by how heavy it was. The blacksmith thought it was hilarious..jerk..

Wasn't the heaviest real-world sword only like… five or six pounds?

It was a scimitar, not a European style sword. Scimitars are like axes made of metal. Built for the down stroke. It felt closer to ten ponds, and the blade's fulcrum was located down about 4 inches from the blade tip...and I was 10 at the time....

Oh, right, those things. I was never really a fan of weapons like that, but their effectiveness is amazing.

It's funny watching Ezio Auditore in Assassin's Creed using a scimitar like one of his lightweight swords. It'd be interesting to see him wielding it like one of his zweihanders or massive battleaxes.

Yeah...but most videogames don't work like things work in the real world.... if they did, nobody would play them...

I think it would be interesting if it was well-done. I mean, just accounting for the rough weight like that would be cool. Also, it would mean that Ezio could throw a scimitar hard enough to impale someone with it.

This is getting a little violent <.< Aren't we suppose to love and tolerate? 9.6..

Anyway, most weapons are only of any real use for the kill stroke. The only real blade that was ever developed for being flashy in it's use was the rapier. Swords are basically just meant to be used as cleavers. run up, sink the blade in to flesh, and hope you do so before the other guy can do it to you. These epic battles of blade on blade, the clang of singing steal... only ever happened in the movies. It is for this reason that through out all of history before the invention of the firearm, wars were not won by training, they were won by 1 part strategy to 4 parts numbers...of course... technology always plays a part as well...
