We put the first yarn tail/sho-fly thru some paces today... it held up with a 45 min round pen lesson and then held up on a hour trail ride thru high weeds, up and down some banks and smacking back and forth between my horses legs. And it still looks fly and plush!
I'm now open for some commissions (about 4 per month I still have a full time job) I can do custom colors and make any length you want, specify what you want in a note and I'll get right back to you on a quote!

My only fear would be that burs from the weeds would get stuck in it and it'd get torn up when the rider tried to remove the burs. Also, the burs would be smacking against the horse's legs since they'd be stuck in that dangly guy.
The only reason I bring it up is because a friend of mine had a plush girth and when we rode through some weeds a ton of prickers got stuck to it and her horse was SO agitated (understandably!) Good idea! Might be nice for barrel racers or speed event people, or for arena work to whisk sweat and bugs away. Would need to be very washable too, LOL

well yeah, I market them at the barrel races and the gymkhana shows... We ride on trails I maintain by pruning and mowing so no burs around us. And thats also why I use a neoprene girth on all our horses the burs don't stick. We just wanted to see if the way I made it would hold up to being put thru the hell of a trail ride. I do make them as yarn tails for us furry peeps and i use a slightly different method on the sho-flys to make them a bit more sturdy. I'm all about horse comfort...my guys know to come into the sheds at 12:30pm every day because I have a mister system of fly-spray....bit on the spoiled side of life!
