So here is my 2IC for my Tau Sept. I'm still working on him so you'll gotta forgive me but I did alot of remodeling to the crisis suit as a whole to give him a more intimidating and dynamic look. So far he's turning out pretty ballin' so I'm liking that.

Not too shabby, but a couple things I'd like to point out that could really help this guy really come to life!
-The legs are on the wrong sides, which is why their mobility's currently so limited. :P
-Take a little time to scrape off mold lines and clean up where the parts come off the sprue
-Drill out the openings of barrels and stuff!
-Primer your model prior to painting (if you didn't)
-Water down your paints a bit more; multiple thin layers are better than a thick layer or two that aren't smooth and obscure details!

Right. Some filing prior to assembly and then VERY tight rubber bands can help mitigate the issues with the backpacks. If you remove the legs and swap sides, you can use sections of assault marine jump pack or Firewarrior Shoulderpads to make an armored "skirt" over the damage, think the thigh/hip joints on knight and samurai armor! If you want to strip paint, Simple Green is okay, Purple Power is the best BUT you want to use gloves because it'll suck the oil out of your hands in no time flat.

I do like the look you are going for. And do remember, this is your army build it how you want to. If your tau sept build their battle suits with the legs swapped like that - as long as they all do it - then its fine.
And conversion work is its own reward (for an example, look real early in my gallery @ my Tau army. I made my Vespids flying and my Commander Shadowsun different n_n)
