The thumbnail is someone else wall sculpture. I got it off of google image search.
As for the poem...I personally feel this is one of my bests. The rhythm is good, and there is so much feeling.
I am not old, but I would like to think I have a couple wise things to say. If you haven't figured it out already, no relationship is smooth sailing. And if it is/has been, you're either fooling yourselves or haven't been together long enough.
That being said, however obvious the above statement may be, let me tell you, having been with my husband for eight years, at my age, is a miracle. We haven't been "together" all eight years mind you, although we never dated anyone else during our breakups, and the longest split was a couple months. Hence we consider that we've been together eight years.
This poem was written during that longest breakup, which was actually the last one before we got married.
All Humanity's Got
I was me, but now I'm not.
You were you, but now you're gone.
We were we, but what does that really mean?
We were in love, but that had yet to be seen.
And over time the problems grew so many,
And they all became a little too heavy.
And the schedules kept getting so “booked”,
And our growing love too overlooked.
Yet love is all the human race has really got.
And we may have come to a point where I'm not me,
And you're not here, and we're not we,
But someday yet we may see,
That love is all we really need.
