Ah awesome, I was afraid I had become quite old there for a second.
Yeah, it took me a while in the 90's to see them, and then again a few months ago when i remembered they existed. It's like, the first time you see one. you get so excited that you lose focus, and then can't do it again. But after a while you can see them first time every time.
I would encourage you to keep at it, and say that it's a good skill to know... but the truth is that I just want to flip you off :p

:B I couldn't find that middle finger in that image lol but here's a couple I really managed to figure out X)
it became clear that all I had to do was cross my eyes slightly then I can finally see 3D X3 but these two are the bests I've seen thus far

O: maybe if ya inverted that image maybe I'll see 3D instead of it being like pushed in X) I donno.

Interesting... so you are saying that the head gets pushed in (and the background gets pushed out?)
There are actually two types of stereograms like this. One is where you eyes focus on a point in front of the image, and the other is when they focus on a point behind the image. If you maintain the wrong focal point for the image, then it will appear inverted. Or so I have read.
When you see the second image you posted (the one with the leaves), does the centre of the wave peak or trough out of the screen? If it's peaking, then you are seeing it backwards to what I am (and will therefore explain why my image is causing trouble.)
Of course, the other option is that my brilliant piece of artwork just isn't that good.

you're probably right about the second option which I couldn't manage to see behind the image so I guess I'd look a bit like this? <_> instead of >_< (which I'm basically cross eyed, much less severe than looking at 3D double images) atm I see what looks like paper cutouts of layers going further back with smaller holes lol
its really cool stuff >,..,> I tried to convert your icon but it was too pixelated and blurry to get any kind of detail
I read that you're a 3D animator, did you model that figure too? :3 I can make models too myself but none of my late 3D work is available to most folks, like the masses >,..,>

Mmm, I'm not sure sorry man. To be honest I don't understand the finer points about the whole phenomenon. That image behind the leaves is of a wavy surface, like rippling water. So if you're seeing cut-outs, then something is going wrong :( But they are both cross eyed in principle I believe, it's just one has the focal point (where your eyes would meet if they had lines coming from them) behind the screen, while the other has it in front.
How did you try to convert it, may I ask? Is there a program or something out there that tries to rip the 3d image from a stereogram?
And yeah, I am an animator. I did model it, it's an early version of the model I just posted which here, if you were interested.

If you don’t mind me asking, what models have you made, and how comes you don't share them?

I guess I'm a little paranoid about my work style of modeling being copied O: especially if I hope to make a game come to life. I do have a few pics that isn't related to my secret project that I can show :3

Oh wow man, that looks pretty awesome, thanks for sharing. Unless I am mistaken, those are very thin Maya joints are they not? My preferred package :) Out of interest, are you/have you been a student or worked with 3d in an industry?
I haven't ever dabbled with second life before. Did you have to animate everything this guy does as well, or can you somehow plug a custom rig into an existing set?
And are making a game as well? That sounds so freaking cool. I take it you don't want to share too much about it, but can you divulge what genre it is? Are you working on the whole thing yourself, or are you collaborating with peoples?
I apologise for bombarding you with questions, I tend to do that when i get excited.
And as for the stereogram, ah now I get you. Ha, if you want I can upload the full zdepth render in my scraps. But you could clearly make your own with your character if you wanted. Do you know how to do a depth render? If you indeed use Maya then I can help you if not.

its all made in blender, the joints were separated using individual body parts, normally I have them joined but since my old retro self had a liking of old graphics I decided to make him like it. I plan on making an entire level just to make it a whole lot more interesting which I hope to bring that into secondlife as well. Honestly he isn't and somewhat designed for secondlife at the same time but I built him off using the bones that were given as a source from a site. I hasn't experimented with adding new bones but you can tick a tixbox during importing so you can have weird bone length such as an ape! but it has a lot of bugs such as floating >,..,> or sinking. Crescent's Minotaur's tail is animated tho, using 8 materials (max limit on a single mesh, but each can have 2048 x 2048 images) as frames, to create some sort of glitchy animated sequence, but it works.
It is possible to animate an entire sequence have perhaps with a custom set of bones not related to secondlife then use a script to activate the animation thus the animated animal or figure starts playing which I can show you here. I hasn't learned it yet since I don't do scripting >.<; I don't know if it'll work on an avatar that's wearing a mesh rig along with some animated script thing, who knows.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Frbz6tpLo0&feature=relmfu dance 83 although an avatar is wearing it.
he's kinda creepy >.<;
second life has a lot of cool and interesting features and I was merely experimenting with getting an avatar uploaded but just recently I learned how to make physic boxes for structures.
I don't know how to make a zdepth render yet but I've done it with secondlife snapshot before some years ago I don't know if it's still a feature >,..,>
I was once a student who played with Maya for about a short semester in 2007 but since the program costed and I can't use it for home use it wasn't till later I learned on my own using blender it all started with Morrowind, its a long story short but an interesting one. if you're familiar with planetelderscrolls you can check out some of my mods :D I'm known as Solidfire I can show you a few project which hasn't been made public at all sadly, like my mesh overhaul, moogle elementals and a floating island home X)
>,..,> this has gotten a bit long, my game, I'm making all the models myself including textures but I do hope to find some friends along the way to join up on the project, especially if someone could create my dream engine which isn't all that (demanding) the gaming style isn't going to be extremely realistic or shader heavy but it'll have a nice retro feel to it without ya'know looking non-aesthetic. I can explain the rest in your inbox if ya interested :3

Ah, the old (literally) rigid body technique, nice. It wasn't long ago that I had to chop up and animate a character like that in a game because the engine was archaic and couldn't handle skinning. I have to admit, I didn't enjoy it. I think I have grown fat on the luxury of skin weights, and seeing the character move like a ken doll made me sad. Though that's because the game wasn't MEANT to look retro.
And I can see how changing bone dimensions/placement would lead to animation problems, unless you made an entire new suite of animations for the character. Which would be a massive, massive undertaking. Though I would admit that second life has always kind of interested me as a concept. Though I never really knew enough about it in the days when I would have had time to investigating it further. Thanks for the rundown and links XD
Blender and sculptress seem to be a bit of a hit around here. I must admit, I haven't used either of those packages, but I hope they continue to develop in their own ways. Autodesk is getting a little fat of late and needs some incentive to get off their arse. As someone who has used both, I take it you don’t find them limiting compared to the industry level packages?
And hell yeah I'd be interested in your Morrowind mods. I recently re-installed that game and tried it out with that amazing render updater. Though its name escapes me. It made the game look amazing and contemporary. There was also that huge Tamriel rebuilt project I had a look at. So yeah, I'd be very interested in seeing what you've done XD. I'll have a look around now. What were some of those things that you didn't release?
But for your game - have you considered using one of the existing engines like Unity? There are a number of free ones going around. I ask because I have seen a number of projects (and even companies) fall by the wayside because they were pursuing custom engines. In my experience, they tend to be black holes, which always explode in terms of scope and resources, and rarely see the light of day.
And yeah, I am always interested in game talk XD, but I wouldn't be able to offer up much help in terms of help, sadly. There are a few projects with current and ex workmates which I struggle to find time for as it is. Life gets in the way. I'll let you know if I ever lose my job and find myself with some free time though XD.

most animations does pretty well with deformed changed bone sizes and all but it's possible to create new animations based on that bone structure and export it since its possible to create animations that deforms the avatar themselfs :D but unfortunately I'm not doing any animations yet =:B
you should definitely try out blender :D Sculptris was fun for a little while but I prefer having full control on how I create my things especially if I'm managing the geometric low poly modeling. I'm currently using blender 2.49b as for some reason the latest version has rather strange limits and missing features, the one that bothers me most is I can't rotate my camera to view my models upside down which sorely limits my productivity. X3

my favorite is the Glass Glowset Mod 8D glowing glass adds a lot to Morrowind and I think you were thinking of Morrowind Graphic Extender (MGE) I'm actually sticking with an older version of MGE
because I'm quite happy with all the shaders I have set up as you might see in my screenshot section :3 it has motion blur, film grain, depth of field some modified shaders such as sun rays and ambient occlusion

I'm a bit curious of trying out various engines but not knowing a thing of coding I don't think I would have much luck >.< unless there's a huge library of optimized scripts at my disposal. However with my project set aside I'm always open on helping others on their existing project especially if they have a working engine. =:B despite already working for a studio, I have a lot of time on my paws since I'm always home.

Hah, thanks for the link man. I did o looking at planeteldarscrolls, but I couldn't work out how to find a list of your stuffs. I found out that you had the rank of mudcrab though, harsh since your glass glow mod seems to rate through the roof. I usually get my elder scrolls mods off Nexus though. No reason, that's just what I seem to do. i don;t really know the ins and outs of all the different sites.
If I were to make a mod (which I doubt I will) for Morrowind, I would try and get someone to help on the code side of things and see if I counted drag that combat system into the new era, and replace some of the more heinous animations. (Bethesda and animations, lol. The quality in Skyrim was a massive surprise for me.) Though I'm betting those things aren't easy to change, or else someone would have by now. Meh.
As for the engines, yeah it will be difficult to code/script a game if you don't already know how (unless you wanted to learn how to do that sort of stuff yourself anyway), but even when you do find a coder to come on board, it will still be easier for them to use an existing engine like unity, rather than make one from scratch. A lot easier for you as well,a s you'd be able to view and edit your assets in-game easily, whereas you wouldn't with a custom engine. Unless they programmed a viewer for you, which is already starting to blow out the scope and focusing resources on things that aren't the actual game. I imagine there would also be a massive library of stuff for unity to work off (far more than a custom engine anyway), and it's fairly easy to get a simple game going. I would be surprised if you couldn't manage to get a basic concept working in unity after following some relevant tutorials, of which there are plenty online. Once you got to that level, you could even post it on here and see if you couldn't find some interest form a competent programmer.
Anyway, that's all just FWIW stuff. I'm not trying tell you how you should make your game, I'm sure you know what you're doing. Your mods speak for themselves. :)
And you work for a studio? From home? That sounds... perfect XD. Are you a modeler/texture artist?
Sure, you can add me if you want, but I'm not sure how friendly timezones would be. I am pseudoart7878@hotmail anyway.

Heh, so you got it to work? I assume you did as you +faved it. Thanks for that, BTW XD.
Were you around for the whole craze of the early/mid 90's? I remember these things were everywhere, there were even huge prints which people framed and put up on walls of their houses. Hideous.
It was the ring tones of that generation I suppose.

Haha yeah, good work :P
Indeed but I didn't really pay much attention to it because back then I had a bit of a lazy eye problem. Still do, but it's unnoticeable to anyone but myself (when I cross my eyes more often then not one eye will look down further than the other one).

Wow, you printed it? Haha, props for commitment XD.
Actually TBH I'm kind of surprised to hear that its easier to see on paper than screen, considering the resolution on the printed paper must be lousy. For the record, seeing it on screen rules. And t does work. I've even managed to see it in the 'preview' on my iphone screen. Not to brag, or anything.
Glad you could see me flip you off though, I hope you enjoyed it :)

Yeah, it does. Took a bit longer to get right though. And for some weird reason when I first tried to get a look at it on the screen I didn't see the actual shape but what sort of looked like a cutout of it. Like everything else was 3D but that part was just a big hole in the shape of what should be there, and there was another layer of the texture behind it and further back. That was all I could see on the screen for a bit. Really had my head spinning.
Got it right eventually though. Not sure what was going on those first few times.

Mmm, the weird image seeing is interesting. I'm hardly a big city scientist, but I think here are two types of steriograms - one which requires your eyes to be focused on a point above the iumage, and another which requires you to focus your eyes behind the image (which is the more common of the two, and is what this image is). If you do the 'wrong' one for an image, then it appears inverted. So that might have been what was happening to you.
But yeah, steriograms are old school and cool. I'm going to try an animates steriogram soon XD.
