a photo taken at night at Camp Feral 2012, near the main Lodge camfire pit, showing the ceiling of a star-lit night sky with little cloud cover motion, along with the corona-glow of the campfire in this time-lapse photo.

The new one is a Canon 60D. I can't remember if I had the UV filter on it the last time I tried star pictures or if that's something I purchased after that time. I wouldn't expect that the UV filter would make a difference; an article I read about them explained they were more for use with film cameras and don't really have any effect on digital. And how well does the polarizer help considering it drops a full stop or more of light?
I never had much luck with my older Canon S5IS, probably a limitation of the CCD.
