If I could find a way to box up a stalled weather front and ship it to you, I would! It's so humid that mold and mushrooms are flourishing everywhere. At work, drainage around the building is terrible; every time we a biblical downpour, water comes in under the walls. Thanks to that problem, last week I learned that a Shop Vac can be used as a bilge pump. Not recommended, but it can be done.
A cloudburst dumped 1/10th inch of rain in 20 minutes this afternoon. Even the front parking lot (which has the best drainage in the area) couldn't keep up with it. This whole area is a freaking swamp. Still, this part of the SC coast fared better than Charleston - I heard that people were kayaking down the streets there.
I had to sop up a bit more water today again, and this time the shop vac really showed its stuff properly.
One customer told me that he had emptied out a boat (long story as to why it was full of water while it was on a lift) with a shop vac. He warned the boat owner that this would be dangerous, don't try this unless you have electrician's insulated gloves. The guy took the top (motor) portion of the vac, held it so that the air intake was just under water, and aimed the outlet over the side of the boat. Emptied that motorboat out in a couple minutes.
Shop Vac: This REALLY Sucks!

Wow good ol gully washer right there! Isaac has been slowllllyyyy inching its way here all day, but I dont think it's posed to be that bad here, plus they downgraded its status to a depression.. whatever that is, not familiar with coastal weather.. stuff. But I do plan on living by the coast someday.
Haha that's very resourceful, dangerous yes, but saved him from having to go out and buy a pump! What do you do...besides have to deal with crappy drainage? xD

Tropical Depression: defined (but hard to spot) circulation, wind speeds under 40MPH, and rain. You've had thunderstorms and derechoes do far worse, although the rain may hang around a while longer.
Trust me, when you see the kind of mess a tropical system can make, you'll want to be a few miles inland! I grew up watching tropical weather, having been on or near the coast my entire life. I also suffer from migraines that appear to be weather related; sometimes being a barometer downright sucks.
Where I work: the store deals in oddball electronics. I've described the place as the "miscellaneous parts" heading, rather like what Radio Shack stores used to be like back in the 1980s, mixed with a supply house. Most of the customers are contractors.
I frequently track down and order lots of crazy stuff.

Oh haha I get you. I feel enlightened! Highly doubt we will get a whole lot of those tropical storms around here anyway and there are only a few spots around here that are prone to flooding. But regardless, after all the hype, the storm MAYBE dumped an inch of rain here over 24 hours. Pfft. Disappointing :( Haven't had a bad exciting storm since I lived in Tulsa, OK.
Your job sounds like fun! I envy those who possess customer service skills, which I lack entirely xD can blame my last couple jobs for that lmao.

Northeast corner. The Atlantic is about a mile and a half down the road from my apartment.
UPS still hasn't gotten back to me with a quote for shipping thunderstorms. If I can figure out how to pack 'em up, I'll send a couple your way. I need bigger boxes, Cumulonimbus won't fi--OW! %*&^$#* lightning!

Hurricanes are very cool, well bad weather always is, flood, wing, rain thunder and so on. sadly teh last Hurricane or " Orkan " we had over here in denmark was in 1999 the worst hurrican ever to hit the contry, well it was nothing in compair to thos who hit overe there, but did very very mush damge over here to steel and brik homes, damn
well if it floods liek katrina lets hope civil rights are not denied this time like allowed to leave to safer area and practicly treated every one in stadium as prisoners and stuff And FEMA saying dont need any help when help was sent. i mean the area was a bloody flipping moat and due to marshes in area came with its own crocs no importing. then the emergency lines that allowed people to talk out wre cut by some one most said it was fema and government trying to do it finaly eather town militia or mayor orderd armed gaurds there.
It's pretty sad how everyone's currently freaking out in Louisiana. We just traveled up about 60 miles to higher ground. So no chance of flooding where we're at now. Ever since Katrina people lose common sense when the word hurricane is mentioned. My friend who's letting us stay with him is a tech, and he had tons of calls from people who needed him to come and shut down their everyday computers.. lolwut this is how badly people are worrying about the storm, they forget how to do simple tasks that they do on a everyday basis. (it's currently raining and VERY windy) TIME TO GO CLIMB TREES! lol X3
