I'll let you in on a little secret.
I deserve this.
You think I was born this way? I wish. Oh, how I wish. It's absolutely tragic that after all the years I've spent building myself up, I still haven't found anything that can wash away the past.
But you can bet as soon as I find it, I'm scrubbing every little inch behind me.
I'm going to scrub that pathetic little Maine town this unfair world locked me into. Erase that filthy farm my family tried to raise me to plow. And I'm getting rid of every time I looked at the warmbloods with envy, every time I watched them glitter and prance in dressage and cursing why I had to be a big, clumsy drafter.
But I'll leave the days I spent training this oversized oaf of a body to be graceful. I'll keep all the years I spent forcing myself to jump, to be quick, so that I could be the star player on my high school team and dazzle the warmbloods with my talents. I'll hold on to the day I took my sports scholarship, left for Los Angeles, and never looked at Maine again.
So when I find that way to get rid of my colthood, I'm using it. Because I'm tired of having to keep these memories buried in me every time I stun another crowd, or pose in front of these cameras, I'm sick of having to be scared someone will find out I wasn't born the superstar I deserve to be.
Because I deserve this.
I earned it.
