Ehh, This picture is much more of an idea sketch. It's not at all the pose that I'd want for the end result, nor is it really there with the design of her outfit.
My issue is that AJ cannot be put in anything frilly. Not really. >___> That's why her Gala outfit was such an impossible perfect storm that it looked gorgeous. I really want to draw something like that for her, but I am hitting my head against a wall...
Again, I kinda just wanted to share my thought process a little more for those interested, and if people have ideas for an outfit like this for AJ feel free to suggest. I'm gonna go to colour like a madman.

Put her in some more leather, with lots of tooling! Have her wear clothes made of simple cloth, clasped with many bits of fine metalwork. AJ would wear a skirt as long as it wasn't too terribly restricting.
You can always look to western wear for inspiration and patterns.

Either way, I love what you have so far. :)

If by "like this" you mean a ceremony outfit, I'd think about something completely different. Female waistcoat with gems as buttons, necktie and the apple jewel as a tiepin. Something like this but with a more feminine cut. Ribbons to attach the tail and mane. Probably a nuance of light brown as main colour for a gentleman-farmer look.
Not that dresses are bad, but for something a little more original and still elegant Applejack is probably the best suited character.
Nice sketch by the way, pretty good expression. And great anatomy, as always.

Yeah, that does sound like a good idea.
I originally tried to put her in a little coat thing like that, but the collar gave me no end of trouble... It always seemed like she was wearing something that's too big for her. I guess that's the issue with drawing human-like outfits on quadrupeds. :P I have to experiment to try and make it fit a pony form more.
And yeah I agree, dresses aren't really her thing, she would have something more... Down-to earth and, as you say elegant.
Thanks for the ideas, I'll see what I can come up with. 8D

Indeed, I didn't think about the fact most of the show cast has a proportionally large neck. As an alternative to the tie a scarf can work without a collar, instead of a tiepin the apple jewel would be a brooch just under the knot. However it would probably require another hat, I doubt her classical one would be well-matched. A feminine fedora could possibly work and would allow another decoration on the band, as see on the picture.
