That's quite the interesting moth you have there. The colour reminds me of the Luna moths that we can find in the area.

Luna moths tend to be a much paler shade of green though. Found them occasionally growing up in Houston.

Quite true, but it is still fairly rare to find a green moth, so that's why it reminded me of it.

Ah i caught a similar sphinx moth last night, it was the Eumorpha vitis vitis , a brown variant and she was big like a humming bird, causing a racket around the living room so i caught her in my matroska and took some pictures before releasing her.

this is a great pic. this is my third fav moth species actually. 2nd being very similar in shape (possibly identical cant tell with wings folded but in this form looks identical to my 2nd fav when it's wings are folded) but i dont know it's name though i see them here and there in fall all the time, like this but brown with black spots that have orange rings around them, maybe you know what that'x called. and my number 1 is the lunar moth.
