Was driving past a scrapyard in Waco, KY and noticed this little treasure poking out of the pile. Its an outisde braced wooden boxcar being used as a storage shed. I know that this is a war department design because a local museum has two of the exact same design.
My understanding is that these cars are a design that goes back to WWI but the ones here in Kentucky were actually built during the Korean War but were never used and were sold as surplus (this is where the museum got theres). The scrapyard owner showed up on a tractor and I managed to get out him that this was purchased surplus many years ago in Lousiville.
Then he saw my camera and turned full asshole so I got out of there. The was also the complete side of an L&N hopper car standing up next to a building but I didn't get a shot of that.

I've seen some of these myself, always interesting to investigate, yes. http://www.furaffinity.net/full/6994778/ Might need to go out and take a closer look at this one.
