No it is not a u boat its a dash8 40c

Yeah I kind of thought that u-boats were all 4 axle units. I've just never seen a six axle unit with this kind of cab configuration.

yeah the Dash8-40Cs were befor the CWs and had standard cabs and CSX i believe only have Dash8-40Cs no Dash9-40Cs. i've taken abunch of pictures of these babies so thats how i know. ^^

There are six-axle U-Boats, such as a U30C. Im not sure but I think that CSX had very few or no U-Boats, I know they had plenty of genric look alikes (C30-7's & B30-7's) but the last buch of those where retired in 2009 I believe, the bigger ones went away in 2004.

CSX did (or does) have some u-boats. In fact they all usually get retired for use on a subsidiary called TTI Railroad that operates out of Paris, KY. They're entire locomotive roster is made up of u-boats retired from CSX and a couple of other roads. They're a coal mover but the bridges on the line have limited the motive power to 4 axle units with old u-boats being the favorite. The grades on the line have called for up to eight of these units working together.
