Sorry for the very, very long delay. The crazy double con week of doom is over, and we're going to work on catching up. We may even have some double upload weeks ahead of us, if all goes well!
On a side note for this page, we realized belatedly that the panel layout for Rajne's conversation with Zakkra up there might be a bit. . . boring. We unfortunately realized this only when I was already half done with the page. So, in short, it's something that'll likely get changed before the book is published. For now however, for the sake of expedience in your updates, it stays as-is. But we're aware of it.
Also, I have been waiting to draw a Scottie FOR LIKE EVER.
Red Lantern - Conviction is a comic by
Rukis and
Myenia, which will be posted right here on FA, and eventually (once we've fixed the dang site) at http://www.red-lantern.net/ over the course of 2012-2013. Pages will update on Mondays, from this point on.
Disclaimer:
This comic is rated R, for graphic violence, adult language, and adult situations. We'll be releasing all plot-relevant pages online, absolutely free, but all graphic adult content will be withheld for the printed release.
The artwork in this comic is a combined effort of Rukis and Myenia, with both artists splitting background/character work. This comic is a labor of love. If you're going to post these images anywhere online, please have the courtesy to link them back to both artists. Thank you!
Red Lantern - The Crimson Divine is copyright Rukis and Alectorfencer and is available for sale through Sofawolf Press -

RMFC, during Building a solid painting. I believe you had discussed some of the other techniques with Rukis, as did some of the other vendors. Particularly the discussions about lighting. This last page shows a very slight change in the manner of shading But whether it is entirely obvious or not, this page shows a paradigm shift while maintaining consistency throughout the last few pages. My point is that I can see the changes since RMFC, some of the other people who were at the art panels might also see what I'm talking about. I don't mean to sound creepy at all, but if must, I'll simply quote Amon, "I'm very good at my job."
Hey, Manjusha actually cares, to a degree. Sure, it may only be about her "indentured servents" physical well being, but that's a lot more than her mother, as we see here. Manjusha wanted to bar Corros from the bidding because she knew what he'd do; the money wasn't worth Dhaval getting injured. Besides, we haven't even seen that many hyenas, so there may very well be a fair number of decent and good ones, more likely outside the clans (or maybe even in them, who knows). This story needs antagonists, and in this case, it's a hyena clan and some reptilians. I mean, someone has to be the villain in this story, and I don't get why Rukis seems to keep catching flak for the species that just happen to be cast in the villain role.
i love this comic from reading through the last few...more like dozen...pages (thanks to a friend turning me on to Unconditional, which was awesome ^^) and i sooo hope that the Admiral kicks that hyena's ass for selling their servants for a blood ritual. Then sallies forth with his crew to save the unfortunate souls, my only fear is Amon or Dvhal (spell? the tiger) might be one of the ones sold to the lizards
I really love the art and story. I can't wait to see what comes of this.
Just one thing that sticks out to me, I could be wrong. In the second last panel, the terrier is leaning to his right, but in the last panel, it looks to me like he's leaning to his left. It makes me feel like they switched sides between panels.

Small suggestion: change the FIRST link to point to the first page of 'Conviction (which in turn may link to the original 'Red Lantern', or you could have a 'beginning of series' link on each 'Conviction' page, or... what have you).
I comment this only because I haven't been keeping up with 'Conviction', and I was kinda surprised to have the 'FIRST' link take me a long way back in time.
Anyway. Up to you.

Lurid and Lycan: It shouldn't stretch the page unless there's something wrong with your browser settings.
Not sure how relevant to this story it is...but I'm pretty sure that at least the mammal species present are dichromates. Unless the Cathazra snack on fruit, it might be safe to assume that they are too.
(I don't know if they actually are for the purposes of Red Lantern...but I wouldn't necessarily assume that they're not either, making the dirty red color completely irrelevant).

And in the contract, the servants' intended purpose will be stated as "providing menial labor on preparations for a significant cultural event". :P
Nice going. After the last page, I was afraid Rajne might turn out to be a softy, like her daughter. Would be terrible if the comic run short of bad people to hate. ;)
So, Amon is almost certain to be sent as sacrifice. No way he'll actually die, but I wonder what other "refuse" characters will be selected or if something will happen to them. Could be someone we know?
Oh well... $20 says Luther will crash the lizards' party with minimal (if any) casualties among slaves.
