I think it's just the way you phrased it. I know you tried to make it respectful it just seems like you found something you dislike and said nothing nice at all. It came out harsh. Artists have to learn the difference between criticism and just being mean but everyone has to find a way to comment with helpful criticism in a way that doesn't make people instantly offended. I know you were taking time to help and I'm sorry it escalated like this. Just be cautious on here because I see a lot of people start huge arguments over lack of communication. I almost deleted my account over a single comment taken the wrong way. Thank you and my apologies again if this upset you.
Yes. I'm sorry if I seemed harsh. I think I mostly said that to myself. The Quibble part. (Quibble.. what a funny word...)
I've seen mermaids designed like fish, whales, eels, serpents, octopi... There is no limit. I had one once that was a catfish. (She was originally a cat.. so, kinda makes sense).

omg, I ended up doing a coloring of it too, and you wouldn't not believe how similar the colors/patterns turned out... Great minds think alike, I guess. (and for those curious, the mermaid on the left is based aesthetically on a combination of a pelican eel [thus the very pronounced anal fin] and a beta fish while on the right is an angel fish and an elegant koi)
