The paint is Citadel (games workshop) acrylic paint, it's specifically designed for models. It's kinda delicate so I clearcoat them with varnish when they're done.
I wouldn't way they're HARD to paint, but it does take a bit of practice and know-how to do a really good job on them, and of course it's fiddly
