I reallllly suck at making counter measures to missiles, these are the two brain busters I came up with.
In my head a small 9ft tall pilotable mech suit with high manueverablility 'should' have a counter measure system for missiles, in my head when deployed it'd look like a spray or plume of flares had been deployed, but try as I might that system just can't become something compact enoug to fit on the back of the 9ft tall Phalanx suit. The model on the right is what I started out with, it looked amazing, then i stopped and asked, "where do the flares go? How will you load them into the set up? Is that going to cover the entire rear should a missile be fired while fleeing?"
I then knocked down a few bores to 25mm and started over, the one on the left covers the entire sprectrum of 'from the rear' and also has a decently simple way to load it, pretty much unclasp the bottoms, a magazine like thing drops down and you load the flares into it then push and clasp it shut again.
But the problem with that design is it looks like crap, it doesn't looks like its really part of a mech suit, it looks like something you'd stick on a fountain to get strange arcs of water.
Kinda at my wits end on how to roll out a missile counter measure device that I can mount on the back of the Phalanx. I 'could' try and make a mini-Trophy System, but even then that'd be a bit bulky. I suppose I could replace it with a backpack type unit that could scramle missiles guidance systems and just make them fall out of the air mid-flight? I could just slap a super charged shield on it that could shrug off missiles and gun fire in general. But frankly I don't know, the Phalanx is for a character on a site of heroes, it would (in my mind) be wrong to throw all this fantastical stuff on it that would make it impervious to missiles, etc etc if and when equiped, but the character 'has' to be able to come out of the suit sometimes to dirty their own hands if the encounter proves too risky for the Phalanx's well being.
I could talk on and on and on, and the majority of it make no sense at all, about what I think and feel about this and how i think it should or shouldn't work but I think I'm just digging my own hole of confusion and frustration here.

That might work, but i need something a bit smaller. Though now i'm grasping at ideas that were likely implemented in various gundam series. LIke little wire guided claws that'd grab the missile and cause it to explode, or throw it off course enough that it'd hit something in the environment.

I'd just slap one of these on the back. Just add a spring mod behind each individual barrel.
