lol, yeah i can imagine, i want a bunch of the L lenses but there so expensive and i cant justify the cost knowing that they arent actually as nice as they should be since we use a 3/4 sensor camera instead of a full frame sensor like the 5d mk2 & mk3. Ive only had my camera like 3 weeks and its already annoying enough im about to sell it and buy a 5d mk3 instead >< just out of curiosity, what lenses do you find yourself using the most? I havent been able to decide what lenses to get yet since i do both photos and HD video and the conditions seem to change alot.
Actually they are just as nice. The main difference is the area the sensor covers. So instead of a 50mm L series you would need something around 30mm to get the same shot. That's why using a lens like the 24-105mm is so versatile. You can get just as good shots as a full frame with good lenses and the right ones.
There is a 10-22 wide angle lens that gives you just as wide of shots as the 16-35mm L Series lens on a Full frame. Just look for the 10-22 IS EF-S lens. Also, wide angle is less used than a general 24mm-105mm. 18-55mm lens that comes in the kit is a good backup to those as well. But the 10-22mm is nice and what I shoot my wide shots with. Any super wide angle is gonna have warping on the edges or perspective issues with buildings and stuff. There is a 24mm TS lens that does perspective correction, but it's a very special lens you'd never end up using. That and it's like $2k. or macro, you need a lens that does, well macro. The 24-105mm L series does macro shots. You could also go a cheaper router and get closeup lenses that screw on to your 18-55mm for cheap. Then set manual focus and go from there on super close macro stuff. In fact you will find for macro, the APS-C sensor is a great one for those shots. The main diff is what a ##mm lens is on full frame is diff on APS-C. you still can get the same shots with you cam. I looked into going up to the 5d mark3 myself, but I'd wasted $5000 to do it where the setup I have was much better to just keep my existing 60d and get the right lenses. Work on lighting, getting great shots, buying good lenses and then if it makes sense, think about that camera upgrade.
yeah lenses are too expensive in general and good to know that the 10-22mm might work for now, its just really expensive for a lens that i cant carry over to the 5d later, kinda makes me feel bad about spending any money on EF-S lenses since i wont be able to use them with the 5d. and for pictures the 18-55mm that it came with works well, the big issue is video where you need a wider shot sp i may look into the TS lenses. Fortunately i dont use auto focus at all anyway hehe. I have been wondering if the close up lenses actually decrease the minimum focusing distance. That seems to be the big issue with macro shots. i cant actually get close to the object and still be able to focus, i end up having to pull back a ways but in some situations that leads to more problems.
