This is me today, all dressed up for the Skagit Valley Retro Ride, a bike ride for classic bikes. We were encouraged to bring our oldest bike, and to dress retro. I won "Best Costume" :D
Pictured with me is my Hercules King. The exact year is unknown, it's a 40's or 50's model. And back there behind me is an old barn-find Schwinn.

My first Bike was about the same vintage as the one you have there. It was English made and I don't remember how many tires I had put on it over the years. It was used when I got it... I mowed lawns to pay for it. I was 12 at the time. The gearing in high was just right for on the flat and low was just right for most of the hills I had to deal with... Most of the time I rode it in low.

I don't have any gears, the shifter cable is corroded off and I haven't bothered to have a new one installed yet. Hence why I almost never ride the King, my 10-speed is much better for commuting.
