SO, i was happily surfing through youtube when i fount this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xjJyA_v7bs&feature=related
.
.
.
I always get in white at this part, but you can imagine ive left my tablet wet with tears while drawing this. But i had to draw it.
I can understand zoos, and all that, even furfarms! i swear. But this. God im crying again and its not a joke. I cant stand it.
For fun, just to make people laugh. Thats what those lions are born for? to live defeated. humiliated. abused.
.........
I know there are cases in wich trainer and animal have a very strong bond and all that, but sadly they are the minority.
The lyrics you can see there are from "Going Under" , Evanescence. for casualty i was listening to this song when i found the vid.
** For those who ask, yes you are allowed to post/reblow anywhere you wish as long as you give me credit. ~

Hm... that one didn't look terribly defeated. :p
But yeah, it's not a good idea to use wild animals as entertainment. Zoos, particularly in the modern day, are one thing -- there are at least educational and conservationist arguments for keeping animals in captivity there. Circuses and entertainment acts? Just a matter of time before something goes wrong, really. Even if there is an actual bond, the animals were never meant for that sort of life. Just look at Siegfried and Roy...

They were entertainers in Las Vegas. I believe Siegfried was a stage magician and Roy was an exotic animal trainer specializing in big cats, but I may have that backwards. They were pretty well-known in the 90s. Around 10 years ago, one of the tigers nearly tore out Roy's throat. And this was an animal he'd raised from a cub and who'd been performing in the show for several years -- and he was, from all accounts, a very caring trainer.
I seem to recall at the time an animal behavior expert suggested that he'd fallen during the show and the tiger was attempting to drag him to safety, the way a tigress would her own cub. Of course, tigers have thick skin and fur covering their necks...
There's a bit of a happy ending to that one, at least. Roy and the tiger both survived, and both participated in a charity show a couple of years ago, which also ended up being the formal retirement show for Siegfried and Roy.

Yeaaah! i remember, i saw this in TV once a long time ago... ^^
If you want to keep one wild animal for "yourself" more less as he did, then i dont find it so bad. The problem is when they have more than 2 animals that are for a group of persons, they are just to make profit, thats what i think.
