That was the idea. I wanted to present it as something that readers paying close attention would spot as a flashback, but that would convince everyone else that it was a current event. That is, of course, until this page, when we snap the viewer back to the present. Don't feel bad, though, because if you were surprised by it, then I've done my job well. ^__^
And after that night, if they ever wanted Xhianil to become a great warrior, all they did is give her a knife, point her in the direction of tigers, and tell her those kitties wanted five helpings of Shawarma! Hmmm, and really like how Flare looks so nice and sexy in that panel where she's bent over the table, and poor Xhianil just looks so sad in that last panel. Very nicely done page!
