Finished(mostly) Nim's ref sheet finally |D
Ill add info specifically about him later, but for now here's some info on what he is, a Tiaryth
I've had Nim as a character for a long time, he was originally created for a mutants and masterminds game actually :o, so if he or his "species" resembles someone elses characters, it was not intentional.
Tiaryths are a closed species, im still working out a lot of their design and history.
Tiaryth (Pronounced Tare-ith) Info
(This is currently very innacurate as quite a bit has been changed- 4/5/13)
Appearance:
-Average size: human-5'6' for females, 5'11' for males; beast (can vary a lot)- 4ft at the shoulder, ~15ft head to tail
-Body types, skin tones, and facial features are just as varied as humans. As such beast form is also highly varied. Appearance usually reflects element type, but not always.
-Human form generally retains pointed, elf-like ears and tail, more powerful Tiaryth can completely eliminate it from their human form
-Eye colors can be nearly anything, but are usually a combination of parent's eye color. Colors are often quite bright.
-Beast forms are usually rather natural in colors, with one or two brighter colors that reflect their element.
-Beast forms ALWAYS have tear markings, can be lighter on some individuals but still present. Tear marks can go down all the way down to chin
-Can have large blotches of color, but spots are uncommon. Bold, full body stripes are also pretty uncommon.
-Adult males commonly have chin “spikes” in beast form, but not always. Females never develop these.
-Horns can be nearly any shape or size, females usually sporting smaller horns. It is not uncommon for Tiaryth to trim their horns if they become cumbersome, some preferring to keep them short.
-Can interbreed with humans and elves, but offspring are often obviously part Tiaryth, displaying features much like a full Tiaryth's beast form, like tails, large ears, horns, more pointed teeth and claws.
Offspring like this have diluted powers and shifting to a beast form is physically draining on them. Commonly mistaken for teiflings.
Powers:
-Age similar to humans till maturity then effectively immortal, but still show slow aging, can still die from damage or illness, oldest recorded was about 1500 years old. Average lifespan is about 200, but this is mostly due to commonly getting themselves killed, commonly succumbing illness. Tiaryths that favor a calmer life style and can keep themselves healthy live much longer.
-Can shift from beast to “human” form and anywhere in between, can take on a satyr-like appearance for example. Clothing, however, does not shift as a Tiaryth shifts, unless they possess a magical item that allows them to. Most will simply remove clothing before shifting, or destroy their clothes as they shift.
-Elements can be just about anything. Fire, water, earth, air, and weaker forms of such are most common. Elements like life, pure energy, and void are extremely rare.
-Elemental abilities are strongest in full-beast form, weakest in “human”
-Are usually highly resistant to their own element. For example, many fire aspects can completely bathe themselves in flames and be unharmed
-A Tiaryth's element is mostly unknown until they are about 10 years old when their powers begin to develop more.
Society:
-Live in small towns of their own kind, in small nomadic groups/packs, or, uncommonly, on their own in larger cities or towns amongst other races.
-Tairyth towns are run by an Alpha and leadership is based off of a combination of blood and merit. Packs too have Alphas, but are lower or equal to town Alphas, and are expected to respect them.
-Packs typically consist of 2-7 individuals and are either a family group, with the eldest couple as alphas and children as subordinates, or a group of close friends and/or siblings. Pack members are usually very close to each other and would easily sacrifice themselves to save another member.
-Some packs chose to strictly remain in beast form
-Often looked down upon by other races, since many have resorted to pirating and thievery, and packs are often viewed as gangs because of this.
-Are a mostly neutral society and view most other races as equals, many do see themselves as “greater” to humans/elves but rarely express such
-Forming close relationships with members of other races is not uncommon
I'll add more later, since this species is still a WIP |D
