For an upcoming issue of a game 'zine.
My customer requested specific peoples as inspiration. So a Masai giraffe, an Ashanti eland, and a Zulu zebra. (The giraffe is literally a Masai giraffe, and Cape zebras are local to south Africa, though might not be local to kwaZulu.)
I really enjoyed some of the research behind this - it turns out the Masai have an actual code for colors on their spears, and that there's a lot of really elaborate terminology for Akan soldiery.

That's too bad that the *book* got it wrong. XD Mislabeled or no, they look beautiful!
