Been Wanting to do Joshua, in some kind of space flight suit, for ages now since I love space so much. My last attempt was a few years ago and outdated. Now just need to design a cool star fighter or mech for him :)
(PS: This took way too long to do x_x im exhorted now )
PPS: This suit is not designed to function in outer space, only inside the cockpit.

wauw, this one is very good. Oh by the way, I am a very big fan of you. And I am a novel writer and I wanted Joshua to be in the novel. (It's a fur-novel) I think Joshua is a very good character for my novel and I wanted to ask your permission to do it. When the book is finished then I would also write down your name, so the people know that this character was created by you. Can I do this? Cuz I think your work is very great and you can say I am very touched by your works.
i agree, although it is mentioned as a space flight suit. perhaps it is not the sort of spacecraft where ejections outside of any sort of containment are expected. although i ofcourse suspect it is a more of a fancy dress costume approach than anything else, where certain features may have purposefully left exposed for aesthetic value. my guess is you realise this and that the artist also realises the limitations of the design in space.
NASA actually did research on this stuff. As long as you're not holding your breath, you won't explode in a vacuum. And with no air to transfer heat, you won't freeze either. The air pressure inside your lungs could be an issue, naturally, but if the suit negates that somehow, perhaps through the chest-piece, he'd be fine exposed like that.
The vacuum would make the capillaries on the exposed part of his skin (pawpads and tail) burst. not pleasant. For exposure you'd want it to be fully covered.
You might not die from it, but it'd hurt like hell. (and may lead to permanent damage)
Still, awesome design and great picture. The scifi nerd in me just wanted to nitpick, lol.

I'm getting an awesome vibe of shades of Yoji Shinkawa from those honeycomb patterns on the breastplate and the armour itself is very reminiscent of armour on the EVA's in Neon Genesis and the flak armour from Ghost in the Shell.
Adore this vision of Joshua so much, wonderfully executed as always! <3

I see someone's fond of the MIT Biosuit. :D
i assume those metal bands at wrists and ankles are where the gas-pressurized boots and gloves are attached, much like the helmet at the neck.
Not really sure how to protect that tail from vacuum exposure, though. As a flight suit for up to say, 40,000-70,000 feet, it'd work as shown if you assume it's using myomers (or some really thin pneumatics) for mechanical counterpressure.
Also, Niiiiiice.

He could probe me anytime?
On the subject of his method of transport. The suit does scream Macross or similar to me.
Now if you could maybe Macross style a Typhoon fighter or similar...
Good to see more Space styled work from you Zen and I am sure you can find good excuses for good snuggles with your Lion now this piece has been done.
If you really wanted to go the Mecha route further along you could play off the "Anime Armour" idea. Where the most shown off areas are actually the most protected. Or the excuse for why Anime Womens Armour usually leaves a lot on display.
Your rather more showy armour might just have to have built in shields for those exposed tails, paws and wherever else might be too well... constrained within armour.

IS NOBODY A HALO FAN HERE JEEZ! nah but your suit looks like a Forerunner combat skin http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/_.....rerunner23.png
well since boots will be needed if the atmosphere is a vacuum every once in a while, don't forget that naked tail will allow him zero comfort if he plans on living for any length of time, glove tips and a respiration supply or rebreather goes without saying. Strikingly hansom otherwise, It would difficult to work around him dressed in that.
Neat Zen.
How about the tail though, it's exposed to vacuum (unless this is more a "G" suit).
Being a bit of a space geek myself, I know that guy astronauts have to put their peen into a condom like attachment to catch urine.
With a sheath, it's gonna be interesting for Joshua

Well, I hope so. My problem was caught very early and I was told I've got a 95% or better chance of it not returning. They way the doctor's treated this problem was with radioactive (rice grain sized) seeds; That radiation has now dissipated.
As a result the doc's (2 fine ones - thank God!) will check my PSA, and other stuff for the next 2 to 5 years.
If it stays dead and gone for 5 years or more they consider me out of the woods. Ironically, I feel fine, and .. um.. well some things are still working (even if it's not 100% of normal).

I love the bodysuit colors. They match perfectly. And the texture and wrinkles look very detailed in a tight suit like that. And the chestplate makes it look like a Gundam pilot. But the suit tightness and the bulge it makes is hypnotizing :3 (hope you don't mind me saying that)
I'm looking more towards fashion design again. Getting back into making outfits that deal with futuristic concept such as space suits and flight suits similar to this or the robots on the new 'total recall' movie. But also getting more involved with anime cosplay and kigurumi as well. But I am really intrigued on what I can do with making helmet designs that look sleek and sexy. It's a lot to do, but it is always fun just making projects. Love the drawing you made here. And I may be wrong, but it looks like Joshua has been updated too! Joshua looks like he has grown into more of a young adult. Before he always looked more boyish. It looks great though ^.^ And the colors are alittle more bolder. Or am I wrong? Still cute whatever the case may be
He looks kind of like one of the Jaeger pilots from Pacific Rim. http://www.liveforfilms.com/wp-cont.....bot-Pilots.jpg http://collider.com/wp-content/uplo.....rim-pilots.jpg
