This originally started as a music project for my comic, Boxer Briefs but then turned into a game.
There isn't a lot of actual boxing in the comics, so there isn't really in the game either - it's a puzzle game (and I tried to avoid the more common puzzles, so I went with Sudoku, since I'd recently fallen in love with it.)
I'm pretty new to making games, and this is just a demo. I'd love some feedback about it. I'm going to finish it regardless, worried it's gonna be disappointing, but I do want to know if it seems like a worthwhile side-project while I get back to doing comics.

I always sucked at it too and then someone said it seemed like something I should be able to do, and it's really easy and fun and sometimes brain-hurty. 8D So I kinda hope people can get into something new, instead of just playing a game they've already played before. (: Woop!
Heh, well while I've never played this type of game before and was lost at first, I still think you did a very nice job. All the animation moved very nicely and there was not one single glitch. Maybe once you feel more up to bar can try a full on boxing game but this is a really REALLY good start ^_^
Yay for no glitches! I tried to keep the programming as simple as possible. X3 And I'm sure it could be confusing and stuff at first, but hopefully people'd get the hang'a it. (: And haha, I just figured there were already so many fighter games, and I had a tough time picking what to make, but I do hope to make more games later where you personally control characters and fight hands on. (:
Heh, well even the simple stuff can glitch at times but I found 0 problems man so its all good ^_^ Heh, it was hard at first because I've never played that game before but I started to get it. Honestly you would be VERY surpirsed on that. There actually are 0 fighting games on FA that I know of. I've seen a few beatm up games based on like Streets of Rage but they are all done by the same guy and the animation is always sort of choppy, like its just a paper doll being moved at times in a endless loop. Might be something to break new ground later on ^_^
Hehe, well I know of a few issues but I'll try to solve 'em as I can, nothing major. (: And ah, well on FA there might be a bit less, especially full on games! Most the time people start a game and never finish. But I'm pretty good at carrying out my projects all the way through. ;3 ...Even if it takes like a year or so like this one did.
Well if there are any bugs in it I have yet to see one so far. As for the games, I really have looked and found 0 Tetsuo did have 2 games in the works, one of witch he was offering people a slot in it but I think he charged like $100 for it seeing as it was in his poser program...sadly he killed the game just as it started, only put like 3 people from FA in it.
^_^ Oh really? Two people I knew of but there was a purple Lucario I didn't know so that might be the one. Heh, well this is true, his stuff was flashy but think thats what he was going for when useing poser, just wish he hadn't have just up and trashed the idea, would have been cool to just be on hold for a bit, pick it back up a year or two later and maybe take the charge part out seeing as not meany have that sort of cash to up and burn.
To be new at it, you sure did do a great job with it. I love how you set it up. It is just all so clever all together. I love the lil tunes that you have for the characters and the battle music. I got a real Tetris Attack or Pokemon Puzzle League feel too. Especially when I saw "I'm ready, are you?" Reminded me of Richie. C:> Sudokus are pretty awesome, I love them a lot myself. You did a great job with this game. I can't wait to see it finished. C:>
Hehe aww, thanks Fudgy! This did take months and months to be able to get to. X3 I'm glad you like the music too, I got a lot of great help there! And those games were a huge inspiration too. And Yaaaaay~! :D Yes, she was quoting Ritchie and the others, good job!
I've never heard of that. :O But it sounds pretty similar, I guess I'll have to see what it's about!
...Haha okay Googled it. X3 Well I guess it looks like it! I was even considering if no one liked this that I'd just use pictures instead'a animation, so that would'a been even more similar. X3
But don't worry, I wanted the demo levels to be easy. I wasn't sure if a lot of people have played Sudoku or not, and some seem to have had an easy time with this, and another few are still struggling. X3

HOW TO DO PLAY GAME
I found the pause key didn't work during a match. Also, I suggest that the finishing blow be more dramatic. At first, I thought I had to do something extra, but then it faded to the next screen. ...Dramatic finish also rewards the player for their accomplishment (but I'm not sure if that'd just be out of character for Cooni). Perhaps as you complete the blanks, show different stages of wear on the opponent? c: And the same for the player as he/she makes mistakes.
How do I do the dragon punch, yo.
To make it moar viable for a game, you'd probably want to put a timer in, but that stresses me out--otherwise, you get a situation that doesn't urge the player to finish it as soon as possible.
You could always throw in more logic puzzles to keep the game varied. :3 Sorta like Professor Layton.

Oh! Well, I tested each level - you type P to pause the game, not click the button, but I could just make the button clickable too I think! (:
And I totally agree, that's a great point. X3 It just sorta fades after dizzyness and I'm sure it could use something more exciting to let you know you finished. I also kinda prefer to be able to see all your completed work and rest after beating a level in a game, so I think I'd like that better too!
And haha, a timer is a neat concept, but I hate 'em. X3 Sudoku on paper doesn't really have a timer, and as common as timers are, I don't think it's necessary. I trust that responsible/interested gamers will feel all frustratingly compelled to finish levels on their own. :3
I considered making the other main character's puzzles different, or more DDR-ish, but I'm not sure if I will or how that'll go. I'm definitely keeping it in mind though, since it's always fun figuring out how to do more things! (:
Thanks again for all the feedback and suggestions I wuv you for it and appreciate it!

Here are some generic comments and thoughts on the game. I haven't read any of the other comments, so forgive me if any of this is just repeating stuff you already know:
- Music seems good, though something in the mix for the stage select seems a bit out of tune to my ears. Odd, that.
- Comics are interesting, and it makes me eager to see what you have planned for each character in the two separate storylines.
- Bit of a high learning curve. I got through them all without much of a sweat, unless I was trying to lose (wanted to see what the gameover screens were like), but I note that it seems your opponent takes more hits than you do to knock down, even in easy mode. =P But then, this isn't a boxing game really. Still, someone who doesn't quite get the logic behind the rules may not fare well. Maybe consider a way to regain health?
- Animations are nice, though Nishi's attacks need to be sped up. Every time Cooni blocks or dodges, it looks like he's doing it way too early! It kinda breaks my immersion, or whatever. I keep thinkin' Cooni should be taking a hit even when I get the number right!
- Numbers linked to certain animations? So what happens when I click a 7 or 9 for my ending move? I may have to play again to find out, but if my opponent is KOed when I duck or block, that'd seem a little silly!
- The end of the match seems a bit anti-climatic. Maybe you should add in a special animation for when you win or lose? Even just a loud "KO!" with big text popping up would help. It'd reinforce the boxing aspect of things, just a little.
- Maybe add a special animation for the last number? This is my personal preference, mind, yet I'd like to see more than my opponent standing up dazed. Perhaps a final attack that knocks the opponent down and out, which would also solve the problem of ending with a dodge or block move. I've no idea how hard this is to code though, so it's up to you if you think it'd be worth the extra work.
- Kiwi seems a little depressed before and after her match with Cooni, yet she smiles while fighting? It's a little strange. If she kinda enjoys the boxing, that's one thing. But if her story is nearly as sad as Cooni's, it seems a little weird. It doesn't match up.
- I do like the unique attacks Cooni uses when I get a number right. Keeps things interesting since I don't know which one is coming next.
- Another possibility is throwing in small animations upon completing a box, perhaps to congratulate and encourage the player. I kinda would like to see a knockdown animation, but again this requires more programming and animation. Consider it optional.
I think that about covers everything. It's a nice game, and has good music, and I do like the animations. I'd like to have the full version so I can play through every match for both characters! Be fun to include a multiplayer version too, though you'd have to rework things entirely. You could use the same animations, though some characters would have to be redone due to lack of symmetry, and use the same music to cut down on the work. However, you'd probably have to find a way to give a random puzzle to both players, and have the winner be whoever solves their puzzle first. It'd be a lot of work, and I'd recommend seeing how this one fares first, and how much of a demand for multiplayer there is. Which may not be much, all things considered.
Good luck on completing it! I look forward to the final version! =D

Oh my gosh this is awesome thank you. :D It's only polite to write back!
I know what you mean with the Stage Select song! I've heard it so many times I forgot it annoyed me. X3 Luckily it's a song I made (music isn't my specialty) so I can go in and fix it. Thanks for pointing it out. :3
I'm glad you like the comics! :D
I heard others said it was pretty easy, which was intentional, so no worries. (: I wasn't sure how many people knew about Sudoku, and I wanted to make this beatable, but the first levels will be easier and the later levels and modes should increase in difficulty significantly. (:
And haha, I guess my logic is that since Cooni isn't really a boxer, he can only take a few hits before being knocked out, or losing his focus, and their whole mental puzzle thing being too hard to focus on. But I think I could work with the heath rules a bit more, though, I know it can be tedious and less fun having to redo game levels just because you messed up, so I'm not too sure how to balance it. 8D
And haha, eek, I just put Nishi's in the other day and didn't fuss much with timing compared to Kiwi. The next thing I want to try is putting more time between the attacks, since I think it's hard to fill in numbers and watch the animated attacks, I might just give it more RPG timing so you can watch things happen one at a time. I dunno, but thanks for reminding me! :3
You're right with 7 or 9 being an ending move seeming silly. X3 I sorta just told myself that after all that work, your opponent would probably be worn out after the specific number of hits - whether it's from hitting and missing, or being hit! But I still know what you mean, I'll think on it! :3
And yes, I do wanna make the end of each fight more obvious and exciting and not just fade. So I will amp it up, and make the last hit a bit more special somehow. (:
You're right about Kiwi too! They're not really happy characters at this moment, so I should probably adjust that. (:
And I actually had your opponent yell out something in text each time you completed a box, but then my game messed up and I had to redo it all, and just couldn't get it to work again so I let it go. I can try bringing something back though. (:
Thanks again for all the suggestions and ideas! (: I appreciate em all and loved reading this. I'll post a journal more about what I wanna change, what I can and can't do, etc after having everyone help me out here! :D

Alright, that was really, really fun. Never thought I'd get into speed Sudoku! Though I do love Sudoku.
One odd thing that happened to me was that my cursor speed slowed down when I brought it into the Flash screen. Was confusing for a bit. Is that supposed to happen?
Anyway, keep this up. I think I'll have to come back here and play this some more tomorrow...
