This little bird almost hit me in the face. ^^'
I put it in a palm tree (the one in the photo) and it flew off.

The small yellow flaps on the sides of his beak mean he is still a fledgling which is about toddler for a bird. It's a house finch.
At this point they're learning how to fly, so they won't stay up in the nest anymore. Mostly they just sit and wait for mom & dad who are still around to watch him. It only takes about a week for them to be fully able to fledged. If you have any cats, I'd keep them in for about 5-8 days.
I used to work with these guys and they are so cute!

Thank you for identifying the little bird. ^^ I've seen a few house finches out and about (I just knew them as the little grey birds with the red chests, among all the other birds in my backyard), so that makes sense. I'm glad that the birds will stick around for a few more days. I enjoy listening to them in the morning. :)
And yes, the little birds were so cute. They made their nest pretty low in a palm tree, so if someone stood a few yards away they could sometimes see the babies' little heads. (That's how I found them. I was walking around, suddenly looked at the tree, and found three little faces staring at me)

I've had a bird explosion in my backyard this year. Millions of baby birds - but I'm not complaining. They're cute (and the baby house finch - identified in the comment above yours - was so soft and fluffy)
Thank you. ^^ I wish I could get to see some baby bats. That would be awesome (and they have their babies in August, so a mixture of bats and birds could be possible...maybe). ^_^;

X3 So much soft fluffy cuteness, I just wanted to hug and squeeze it but it was too small to hug and squeeze and it needed to fly off with its mommy and daddy...
But...SO...MUCH...CUTENESS... Oh my GOD, it was one of the cutest things I've ever held (don't tell my mouse I said that).
