Hey there folks ^,^ Finally managed to get another story up and ready for you to enjoy!
Here we get to see a little of Petie's step-father in action. While taking Gwen out to dinner James finds an opportunity to show his own dueling skills... does Petie's daddy have what it take to win? Or will he be made into a meal? Read to find out! =D

“I was nice of Rose to watch Petie and the twins for us so we could go out.”
“Yeah, I just hope she doesn’t torture Petie too badly…”
“… would she?”
“Probably not… I hope… anyway where would you like to eat tonight?”
The sun was setting on Duel World and the lights of the Skyscraper area were coming on covering the streets in a neon glow. Gwen and James walked along arms entwined. They looked a sight better than their previous tourist attire with Gwen wearing a black dress that hugged her curvy and ample figure beautifully while James had opted for a simple dress shirt and slacks since his broad form limited his options. Though to be honest Gwen liked how easily she could pop his shirt… and other clothes off him. Giggling softly she leaned against his broad shoulder, feeling like a teen on a date again.
“Oh… it doesn’t matter too much to me… though we might as well splurge since this is a vacation…” the ursaring said still leaning against her husband as he chuckled deeply and with a little dip pulled her into a sweeping embrace making her squeak like Petie did when caught off guard as James kissed her “Well then, I recall seeing a fairly classy place with a wonderful view… fitting for my beautiful queen, wouldn’t you agree?” he purred softly, smiling to her as she blushed furiously and lightly batted him “Not in public!” she admonished lightly before giggling and hugging him “And that sounds lovely actually.”
He kissed her lightly before taking her other hand and wrapping his arm around her waist “All right then, lets make this night memorable.” He said as he led his blushing bride off.

Despite everything they’d seen so far they were still surprised at the set-up of the restaurant, which was simply named “Mystic Wok”. The whole place had a Chinese theme and was brightly colored and decorated with an octagon shaped main room at least three stories tall, branching diagonally with the upper two floors being rings. Which made sense in the very center of the ground floor was the largest wok either of them had ever seen with several chefs tending to it and putting on what could only be described as a floorshow with their dramatic cooking. The smell of spices and cooking food filled the place and made James & Gwen’s mouths water as they were led to their table.
Looking over the menu Gwen was at a partial loss since she wasn’t too familiar with Chinese cuisine… luckily James seemed to know a bit about what the dishes actually contained and ordered quite the feast for them. As the waiter left Gwen giggled softy “I didn’t know you were big on Chinese…” she said as James laughed lightly “Remember how I told you I had to help pay my way through college? Did that by washing dishes and working as an errand boy for a few of the local restaurants that stayed open late… course this was before I evolved.” He laughed as he rubbed the back of his head “Probably couldn’t fit through the door of most of them now. Anyway I picked up a little bit of knowledge about the food from them and one of them was a Chinese place so…”
“Ah…” before she could say anything further firecrackers cut her off as brightly colored ones went off in a small pyrotechnic show from the center area drawing everyone’s attention. One of the chefs, giant ladle in hand, was standing there a mechanical whirr was heard and the wok lowered out of sight as the floor closed over it creating a small arena. “The Mystic Wok welcomes you here tonight!” the chef shouted, a microphone hidden somewhere near his mouth allowing all three floors to hear him clearly “And now as you are sitting down to enjoy your meals we would like to offer you the true entertainment for the night… a duel challenge!!”
That got everyone’s attention as the chef laughed deeply “It’s really simple folks! You face the house duelist of the night, who tonight happens to be me, with a simple wager on the line. You win and your table’s meal tonight is completely free! Lose though and you’ll be washing dishes.” He explained, looking all around at the diners as he did so “Simple, right? So then… any takers?” he called, smirking as he looked around the room. There was a lot of quiet muttering at the announcement but nobody stepped forward. James looked to Gwen, the ursaring seeing the smile on her husband’s face and immediately knowing what he had in mind.
“Are you sure…?”
“Why not? You and Petie got in on the act, why shouldn’t I?”
“But if you lose…”
“Hey, we have enough money to pay for the meal anyway so winning would be a nice bonus… but I don’t mind doing dishes if I lose. So why not?”
“Okay then… but be careful.”
“I will, now watch as I go cook a chef.”
“……”
“No?”
“Leave the bad jokes out of this as much as you can please.”
“I make no promises.”
Getting up, which due to his size was far more impressive than it sounds, James held a fist up in the air “Hey! I’ll take you on!” he called out making the chef twirl and level the huge ladle he was carrying at him like a weapon “Okay then! We have our brave customer! Come on down sir!” the chef shouted as James headed for the center arena. The chef handed the ladle to one of the two assistants next to him as he strapped on a standard looking duel disk. Another assistant offered to help James down the stairs into the arena but he managed without it before turning to the guy and whispering.
“Um… I hate to bother you but I don’t have a duel disk on me… really thick arms kinda ruin the straps on the normal ones… you got something I can borrow?”
James blinked as he was presented with a disk with an elongated strap. He chuckled as he slipped it onto his arm. It still looked tiny and ridiculous but it worked so that was all that mattered. Slipping his deck into the slot James looked at the chef who was doing the same. The guy looked about middle age with a broad middle, thin mustache, and thin cut hair under his tall chef’s hat. He had a friendly smile on his face, which looked vaguely oriental, as he motioned to James “So good sire, you can call me Chang. What shall we call you?” he asked as one of the assistants handed James a small lapel pin.
James looked at it for a moment before attaching it to his shirt collar “I’m James?” He said and sure enough it turned out to be a microphone letting everyone hear him. Chang smiled as he motioned dramatically “Welcome to the Mystic Wok then James, I can see you’re here with your lovely wife.” He motioned to Gwen at the table James had come from, making the embarrassed bear wave softly “So tell me… are you hungry for battle?” he asked making James laugh “Starving! Though bad jokes might kill my appetite if you know what I mean.” The abomasnow said making Change laugh as well. “Very well good sir, then let us leave the humor on the cutting board and get right to the cooking!” Chang said, getting a groan from a few members of the audience “Duel!”
“Duel!!”

There was a mechanical whirr as four projectors rose up from the four cardinal points on the arena walls and a holographic projection of the duelist appeared above them letting the upper two floors see them clearly. While James was looking up in minor awe at this Change drew his card “Since this is my battlefield I shall take the first turn… if that’s okay with you sir?” he asked as James nodded. He smiled and set a monster “I set one monster… and play Heart of the Underdog!” the spell card appeared as James chuckled “My daughter plays that card as well… a heavy normal monster deck?” he asked as Change shrugged, still smiling.
“Perhaps… but a daughter? That’s wonderful, children are truly a wonderful thing.”
“Thank you, she’s currently watching my younger kids.”
“Wonderful! You must be proud. Now then… I end my turn.”
“My draw then!” James pulled his card “And I’ll set two cards and one monster.” He said as the three facedowns appeared and Chang chuckled “So far this has been rather dull…” he said as he drew his card and turned it around to reveal Mushroom Man, a normal monster, as Heart of the Underdog glowed and he pulled another card “Not a normal monster… no matter. I flip my facedown Niwatori!” his monster flipped face-up to reveal… an insanely fat chicken monster with green spikes on its head and green tail feathers as it sat there licking its beak and looking sleepy (900/800).
Before James could comment on the odd monster choice the chicken vanished in a beam of light “And I tribute him to summon my Battle Steer!” Chang called as a Minotaur like monster wearing a red cape, gold bands, and carrying a trident appeared and snorted (1800/1300) as a light bulb went off in James’s brain “Wait… mushroom man, niwatori, and battle steer? This is some kind of food themed normal deck isn’t it?” he asked as Change just laughed “You’re half right my friend, but that’s only the appetizer for the main course of this deck… but first let us dig into what surprises YOU have. Battle Steer, attack his facedown with trident stampede!” Chang shouted as the bull roared and rushed forward, stabbing his weapon into James’s facedown monster.
There was a metallic clang as the trident bounced off a large kite shield with a gear emblem printed on it. James smiled as his monster appeared as Chang stared at it in confusion. It looked like a yellow variation of the old monster Geargiano, a wheel like robot made up of several toy like gears with a pair of cartoonish arms, except this on was setting in what looked like a giant pair of metallic legs with exposed gears on the moving parts and was carrying a large shield in each spindly arm (1100/1900) “It seems my Geargiarmor is a little too tough for you.” James said as a card popped out of his deck “And his effect activates when he’s flipped face-up letting me add a Geargia monster to my hand… any other moves you’d like to make?”

“No, I’m good for now… show me more of your deck sir.” Chang said, obviously intrigued by the unusual monster as James drew his card “Very well then… first I activate one of my facedown cards... Cyber Summon Blaster!” the continuous trap lifted as a vehicle with a large radar dish weapon like something out of a Godzilla movie appeared “Now whenever I special summon a machine type monster I can deal 300 points of damage to you… and since I control a Geargia monster I can special summon my Geargiaccelerator!” there was the sound of screeching rubber as another gear monster appeared, this one set in a toy racecar, before stopping on front of James (1400/800).
The Cyber Summon Blaster sparked and shot Chang making him wince as James’s other facedown flipped “And I activate Inferno Reckless Summon! Letting me summon two more copies of my racer at the cost of letting you summon more of your Battle Steer!” he called as two more racecars screeched to a halt in front of him (1400/800) x 2 while two more Minotaurs appeared on Chang’s field (1800/1300) as Cyber Summon Blaster blasted the chef again. “You have quite the interesting deck sir…” Chang said brushing himself off “But you fail to realize I now have quite the full course laid out now and none of your appetizers can match them.”

“At the moment? Yeah your monsters are stronger… but I’ve got something to fix that. Something I think my son would be rather fond of… I’m going to Xyz summon!” two of the racecars turned into orbs of light before slamming together as a figure rose up. It looked like some kind of robot action figure with sparse blue armor cover its body… but its entire inner workers were made of gears! It even had one on its arm as a shield and a huge one mounted on its back. It’s angular visor lit up as it smacked its fists together dramatically (2300/1500) “Meet Gear Gigant X!” James said dramatically, obviously enjoying to moment as his monster stood in front of him “And summoning him triggers my blaster again!” he added as Chang was zapped.

“And I’ll use his effect… by removing a Xyz material I can add one level four or lower machine type monster from my deck to my hand!” James said as Gear Gigant X absorbed one of the orbs circling him and zapped his deck making a card pop out of it “And since I haven’t normal summoned yet…” he slapped it down as a duplicate of Geargiarmor appeared (1100/1900) “And since it worked so well the first time… I’ll Xyz summon again! Meet my second Gear Gigant X!” the new Geargiarmor and the remaining Geargiaccelerator turned into orbs and crashed together as a duplicated robot warrior rose up to stand next to the first (2300/1500) as the Blaster sparked again and zapped Chang as the chef was sweating now. “And I’ll have them both attack your steers! Gear Grind Smashers!” James shouted as the two robots leapt forward and slugged two of the Minotaurs out.

“And now I’ll use my newer Gear Gigant’s effect… and I’ll add a monster from my graveyard this time!” he said as a card popped out of his grave “I’ll set one card… and then I’ll use Geargiarmor’s effect to flip him back facedown.” He said as the armored robot vanished in placed of a set card “And end my turn.” He finished as Chang picked himself back up and laughed “Bravo! Bravo good sir! Looks like I’ll have to step up my serving speed it I want to compete!” he called as he drew his card “Luckily I happen to have drawn just the card to do it! I play Advanced Ritual Arts!” he called as the spell card appeared in front of him… accompanied by, oddly enough, an ancient looking stone stove.
“Now by sending two normal monsters from my deck to the grave who’s levels equal the ritual monster I want to summon… like my Mad Lobster and Jerry-Beans Man.” He held up the two level 3 normal monsters he’d pulled from his deck “I can special summon my Hungry Burger!” there was the sudden smell of cooking meat as something leapt up from the stove. It looked to be an extremely large hamburger with lettuce, tomato, and a little flag stuck on top of the bun… till the buns lifted revealing sharp teeth and it roared viciously (2000/1850).
“Next… I’ll play White Elephant’s Gift! I send my last Battle Steer to the grave and draw two cards…” the Minotaur shattered as Chang pulled his cards and immediately played one “I activate Preparation of Rites! Now I can add a level seven or lower ritual monster from my deck, like a second Hungry Burger, and add one ritual spell card from my grave, like my Advanced Ritual Arts, to my hand!” he called as he pulled the two cards “And I’ll play my ritual arts again!” another two cards, this time Great Angus and Mushroom Man, went from the deck to the grave as a second Hungry Burger appeared, as vicious looking at the first (2000/1850).
“Next I’ll activate Common Charity!” one of his facedown cards lifted “I now draw two cards and remove a normal monster in my hand from play… but if I can’t remove it then I discard my entire hand!” he said as he pulled his two cards before smiling and holding up the Mushroom Man from before “Luckily I had this!” he said as he slipped it into his pocket before setting one card facedown.. .as his other set card from before lifted revealing another Common Charity. James raised an eyebrow as Change pulled two more cards then removed a copy of Niwatori from play “You sure all this deck thinning is a good idea?” James asked “You’ve gone through six cards just this round…”
“Oh it’ll pay off… cause I play my second Preparation of Rites!” he called as another Hungry Burger slipped from his deck and Advanced Ritual Arts slipped from his grave. Two more normal monsters later, two copies of Mad Lobster, the final Hungry Burger appeared on the field (2000/1850) “And I’ll have my first Burger make a meal of your facedown Geariarmor!” he called as the burger leapt forward and chomped down on the facedown card making the robot appear and shatter as a card slipped from James’s deck “Well his effect still activates!” he called as Chang nodded “Well then, I’ll end my turn.”
James pulled his card “… you’re up to something…” he said as he looked over his hand “… bit I have no clue what. So I’ll just go ahead and use both my Gear Gigant’s abilities!” the robots both absorbed the last orb circling them as two cards slipped out of James’s graveyard “To take these cards back… and now I’ll have my first Gigant attack your burger! Gear Grind Smasher!” he shouted as the robot jumped forward and threw a punch at the deranged sandwich… just as Chang’s set card lifted revealing Mirror Force. “Thought so…” James said as his robots shattered “… well okay I expected something weird and usual to be honest but that’s not too unexpected.”
“My apologies.” Change said with a chuckle “I’ll be sure to use an unusual move to destroy you next time.” James laughed at that “We’ll see… usually when Gear Gigant X leaves the field I’d be able to special summon one level three or lower Geargia monster… but I don’t have any so I’ll have to do something a bit different. Proceeding to my main phase 2… I summon Geargiarmor!” the shield bearing robot appeared again “And I believe you remember my Geargiaccelerator? I added them back to my hand so I special summon ALL of them!” one by one the racecars appeared, Summon Blaster zapping Chang for each one (1400/800) x 3.
James LP: 8000 Chang LP: 4800
“Next… I’m going to summon another monster I think my son might enjoy… but first I play Galaxy Wave! Now whenever I Xyz summon I deal 500 points of damage to you!” he called as a continuous spell appeared next to Cyber Summon Blaster “And I’ll do that right now! I use all three of my Geargiaccelerators to make an overlay network!” he shouted as the racecars turned into orbs and crashed together as a truly bizarre monster rose up. It was a huge metal toy robot made to look like a medieval nobleman. It was dressed in fine clothes with curly yellow hair and a big mustache along with huge Popeye like arms with a long sword clutched in a single fist. Its googly eyes jiggled as it moved and held up the sword dramatically (2200/1200).
“Meet Tinplate Archduke!” James called as Galaxy Wave and Cyber Summon Blaster both blasted Chang “Now then… I’ll use the effect of Geargiarmor to move him back to facedown defense position…” the shield carrying robot again returned to facedown card form “And with that I’ll end my turn.” James said as Chang pulled his card and immediately set it “I think I’ll end my turn there…” the chef said, immediately putting James on edge since Chang hadn’t even bothered to move his burgers into defense mode or attack his facedown monster.
James LP: 8000 Chang LP: 4000
“First… I use my Archduke’s effect!” the giant toy absorbed one of the three orbs circling him into his sword and swung it, the wind it generated forcing one of the burgers to shut itself up in defense mode “Letting me change the battle of one of your monsters! Now I’ll have him attack that monster! Royal Basher!” he shouted as Archduke lumbered forward and swung his sword at the defending burger. Chang grumbled softly as his trap flipped and suddenly soft singing filled the arena “I activate Aqua Chorus! Now all duplicate monsters on the field gain 500 extra attack and defense points… so my Burgers gain a little zing to them!” he shouted as they powered up (2500/2350) and Archduke’s sword bounced off it ineffectively.
James LP: 7850 Chang LP: 4000
“… I was expecting something… but not that…” James said as he looked over the three cards in his hand “… I flip my Geargiarmor and use it to let me add another monster to my hand…” the shield robot appear as a card slipped from his deck “And I’ll move him back to defense mode and end my turn.” It again became a face down card as Chang chuckled and drew as his defense mode burger moved back to attack “It seems the time has come for you to sample the main course sir… or shall I say have the main course sample you! Hunger Burger! Attack his archduke with Big Bite!” he shouted as the burger leapt forward… just as Archduke’s sword absorbed another orb and forced it back into defense mode.
“Did I mention Archduke can use his power on either of our turns?” James asked, smirking a little as Chang clapped “Brave… but how about seconds?” he asked as the second Burge leapt forward and chomped down on Archduke, making him shatter. The last one jumped forward and bit down on Geargiarmor making him shatter even as James added a card to his hand from his deck. Chang nodded and set one face down “And with that I end my turn… I’m afraid it looks like you’ll be picking up the check early sir.” He added, looking at James’s monsterless field as the abomasnow drew.
James LP: 7550 Chang LP: 4000
“Don’t count on it… first I play Pot of Avarice!” he called as he shuffled his three xyz from his graveyard back into his extra deck followed by two of his Geargieaccelerators as he drew two cards “Now… I summon the original monster that started my archtype! Geargiano!” with a whirring noise the original gear robot appeared on the field, happily swinging its arms (500/1000)”And I use its effect to tribute it so I can special summon a level four or lower machine monster in my grave… like Geargiarmor!” the little gear creature vanished and was replaced by the shield bearing one as Cyber Summon Blaster zapped Chang “Of course the monster loses its effect but that won’t matter when I play Inferno Reckless Summon! So I get two more copies of Geargiarmor… too bad you’re out of Burgers.”
Chang raised an eyebrow at this as two more Geargiarmor’s appeared and Summon Blaster shot him… as he suddenly went wide eyed as he realized what James was setting up for. “Right! An Xyz summon!” the abomasnow said as two of the machines turned to orbs and Gear Gigant X rose up onto the field (2300/1500) followed by both Summon Blaster and Galaxy Wave blasting him. “Next I use his effect to add Geargiaccelerator from my graveyard to my hand…” James continued as the robot absorbed an orb and the monster slipped from his grave “And use its power to special summon it for another Xyz summon!” he shouted as the racecar appeared again before becoming an orb with the last Geargiarmor and the second Gear Gigant X rose up as Summon Blaster shot twice and Galaxy Wave shot once.
James LP: 7550 Chang LP: 1500
“Now lets see if I guessed right…” James said as Aqua Chorus started to glow and both the Xyz monsters points shot up (2700/2000) as Chang laughed and grinned “Bravo again sir! You figured out Aqua Chorus would work for your monsters as well!” he called as James stared hard at him. The guy was way too calm about this… but if he could get the attacks through he’d be really close to winning… better safe than sorry though “I use my new Gigant’s power to add a machine monster to my hand…” the robot absorbed an orb as a card slipped from his deck “… then I have him attack your burger!!”
“And I activate Deal of Phantom!” Chang shouted as Gear Gigan’t X rushed at the burger. A pale specter appeared surround the Hungry Burger “this gives my monster 100 attack points for every monster in my grave until the end of the turn… I count ten of them.” Burger’s attack points shot up (3500/2350) as he jumped forward and bit Gear Gigant X in half as Chang laughed “This is a little card I use cause it reminds me of my decks strongest monster… and with him gone you lose the benefits of Aqua Chorus!” sure enough the other Gigant’s points dropped back to normal (2300/1500) as James growled “Well I get to use his power this time! When Gear Gigant X leaves the field a level 3 Geargia in my graveyard gets special summoned to it!” he shouted as Geargiano appeared and Summon Blaster zapped Chang.
James LP: 6750 Chang LP: 1200
“And I’ll tribute him to summon a Geargiarmor from my grave in defense mode!” Geargiano vanished as the shield robot appeared again (1100/1900) and Summon Blaster shot Chang “And I end my turn!” James called as the chef pulled his card, looked at it, and laughed “Excellent! It’s time to bring out my strongest monster and to turn this field into a buffet! I tribute one of my Hungry Burgers to summon my “Diner of Unusual Taste”…” he said as one of the burgers shattered and a dark smog started to rise from the field followed by this hideous green monster. It had spindly limbs and four legs, looking like some twisted combination of a bug and a demon. These red orbs that might have been eyes covered its body randomly as its rudimentary mouth let out a gurgling roar sound (1600/1300).
“Meet my Shadow Ghoul! He’s quite the glutton and gains 100 extra attack points for every monster in my grave… and there’s now eleven there!” Chang shouted as the demon roared and its body pulsed as it powered up (2700/1300) “Now then… Shadow Ghoul destroy his Gear Gigant X!” he shouted as the hideous monster dashed forward and ripped the robot apart with its claws making James wince “His effect activates and Geargiano comes back in defense mode!” the little gear robot appeared on his field as the summon blaster went off.
James LP: 6350 Chang LP: 600
“Hunger Burgers, destroy his little toys!” Chang shouted as the sandwiches made meals of the Geargia monsters, James adding a card to his hand due to Geargiarmor’s effect “And I’ll end my turn there…” Chang said as James pulled his card “… I summon my second Geargiano!” the whirring gear robot reappeared “Then I tribute him to special summon my FIRST Geargiano!” it vanished and was replaced by a copy as Summon Blaster went off “Then I end my turn…” James said as a facedown appeared.
James LP: 6350 Chang LP: 300
“I draw! … and I activate Mystic Wok!” Chang called as he immediately slapped his card down “Now I can tribute a monster to gain back either its attack or its defense in lifepoints! I’m sorry but with this boost you’ll never whittle my lifepoints down before my Ghoul eats you…” Chang started to explain… as James’s trap lifted “… Limit Reverse.” He said simply, obviously stunned, as James nodded “Yep… it lets me special summon on monster with under 1000 attack from my grave. If I remember what Rose taught me about this game that means I get to summon my Geargiano back and have it deal damage to you BEFORE you regain lifepoints… meaning I win.”
There was a stiff silence for a moment followed by Chang breaking into laugher “While I can’t say it’s a good ending to this duel I must say it’s quiet the unique finisher! Well then, go ahead and bring this meal to a close sir!” he said giving James a smile as the abomasnow nodded, gear robot rising up for the last time as Cyber Summon Blaster activated and zapped the chef.

James LP: Win Chang LP: Lose
Slowly the holograms faded as Chang laughed deeply “Brave sir! Bravo! As promised you can order whatever you’d like tonight! It’s all on the house!” the chef said as the audience applauded while James chuckled and blushed. After a few minutes of clapping James was led back to his table while the giant wok rose up to fill the arena as Chang stepped out of sight. Gwen chuckled softly as James sat back down “Impressive dueling dear! You demolished that guy!” she praised as James rubbed the back of his head “Sorta… I got the feeling he wasn’t one of the best duelists here… or maybe he was and that deck just crippled him.” The abomasnow shrugged as Momma chuckled lightly “Well dear I think there’s a more pressing matter then that to consider now…”
“Oh? And what’s that my beautiful bear?”
Gwen giggled as the food finally started to arrive by the big, steaming platefuls “Dinner.” She said making James laugh and nod as the two started to tug into their feast, both already planning on what to order after the first course was finished… as well as wondering if they could take some back to Rose and Petie. They were certain the two wouldn’t mind if they were a little late getting back. They’d probably just gone to bed early or something…

“How do you keep DOING that!?”
“Skill, talent, the fact your poker face stinks, and that I know your deck inside and out.”
“Nu fair…”
“Oh don’t be a pouty baby, you know the rules! Put it on!”
Petie fumed as Rose slipped him into the Baby Tiragon themed hooded onesie. He didn’t know HOW she’d talked him into agreeing to just a plain, no disk duel with stakes… but so far after three losses he was in a Cuddlebutts Waddler diaper, a pair of cute Baby Tiragon themed baby shoes, and now the matching onesie. He sat on his thickly padded bottom and fumed unhappily as Rose giggled and tickled him “So, want another match? If you win I’ll let you take that stuff off…” she cooed playfully as Petie blushed and picked his cards up off the table “… and what if I lose?” he asked, still pouting unhappily.
“You might get to wear that around tomorrow!”
“No.”
“What? Afraid you’ll lose again?”
“No! You’re on!”
“Too easy, okay then baby brother… duel!”

Clockwork Nights “I was nice of Rose to watch Petie and the twins for us so we could go out.”
“Yeah, I just hope she doesn’t torture Petie too badly…”
“… would she?”
“Probably not… I hope… anyway where would you like to eat tonight?”
The sun was setting on Duel World and the lights of the Skyscraper area were coming on covering the streets in a neon glow. Gwen and James walked along arms entwined. They looked a sight better than their previous tourist attire with Gwen wearing a black dress that hugged her curvy and ample figure beautifully while James had opted for a simple dress shirt and slacks since his broad form limited his options. Though to be honest Gwen liked how easily she could pop his shirt… and other clothes off him. Giggling softly she leaned against his broad shoulder, feeling like a teen on a date again.
“Oh… it doesn’t matter too much to me… though we might as well splurge since this is a vacation…” the ursaring said still leaning against her husband as he chuckled deeply and with a little dip pulled her into a sweeping embrace making her squeak like Petie did when caught off guard as James kissed her “Well then, I recall seeing a fairly classy place with a wonderful view… fitting for my beautiful queen, wouldn’t you agree?” he purred softly, smiling to her as she blushed furiously and lightly batted him “Not in public!” she admonished lightly before giggling and hugging him “And that sounds lovely actually.”
He kissed her lightly before taking her other hand and wrapping his arm around her waist “All right then, lets make this night memorable.” He said as he led his blushing bride off.

Despite everything they’d seen so far they were still surprised at the set-up of the restaurant, which was simply named “Mystic Wok”. The whole place had a Chinese theme and was brightly colored and decorated with an octagon shaped main room at least three stories tall, branching diagonally with the upper two floors being rings. Which made sense in the very center of the ground floor was the largest wok either of them had ever seen with several chefs tending to it and putting on what could only be described as a floorshow with their dramatic cooking. The smell of spices and cooking food filled the place and made James & Gwen’s mouths water as they were led to their table.
Looking over the menu Gwen was at a partial loss since she wasn’t too familiar with Chinese cuisine… luckily James seemed to know a bit about what the dishes actually contained and ordered quite the feast for them. As the waiter left Gwen giggled softy “I didn’t know you were big on Chinese…” she said as James laughed lightly “Remember how I told you I had to help pay my way through college? Did that by washing dishes and working as an errand boy for a few of the local restaurants that stayed open late… course this was before I evolved.” He laughed as he rubbed the back of his head “Probably couldn’t fit through the door of most of them now. Anyway I picked up a little bit of knowledge about the food from them and one of them was a Chinese place so…”
“Ah…” before she could say anything further firecrackers cut her off as brightly colored ones went off in a small pyrotechnic show from the center area drawing everyone’s attention. One of the chefs, giant ladle in hand, was standing there a mechanical whirr was heard and the wok lowered out of sight as the floor closed over it creating a small arena. “The Mystic Wok welcomes you here tonight!” the chef shouted, a microphone hidden somewhere near his mouth allowing all three floors to hear him clearly “And now as you are sitting down to enjoy your meals we would like to offer you the true entertainment for the night… a duel challenge!!”
That got everyone’s attention as the chef laughed deeply “It’s really simple folks! You face the house duelist of the night, who tonight happens to be me, with a simple wager on the line. You win and your table’s meal tonight is completely free! Lose though and you’ll be washing dishes.” He explained, looking all around at the diners as he did so “Simple, right? So then… any takers?” he called, smirking as he looked around the room. There was a lot of quiet muttering at the announcement but nobody stepped forward. James looked to Gwen, the ursaring seeing the smile on her husband’s face and immediately knowing what he had in mind.
“Are you sure…?”
“Why not? You and Petie got in on the act, why shouldn’t I?”
“But if you lose…”
“Hey, we have enough money to pay for the meal anyway so winning would be a nice bonus… but I don’t mind doing dishes if I lose. So why not?”
“Okay then… but be careful.”
“I will, now watch as I go cook a chef.”
“……”
“No?”
“Leave the bad jokes out of this as much as you can please.”
“I make no promises.”
Getting up, which due to his size was far more impressive than it sounds, James held a fist up in the air “Hey! I’ll take you on!” he called out making the chef twirl and level the huge ladle he was carrying at him like a weapon “Okay then! We have our brave customer! Come on down sir!” the chef shouted as James headed for the center arena. The chef handed the ladle to one of the two assistants next to him as he strapped on a standard looking duel disk. Another assistant offered to help James down the stairs into the arena but he managed without it before turning to the guy and whispering.
“Um… I hate to bother you but I don’t have a duel disk on me… really thick arms kinda ruin the straps on the normal ones… you got something I can borrow?”
James blinked as he was presented with a disk with an elongated strap. He chuckled as he slipped it onto his arm. It still looked tiny and ridiculous but it worked so that was all that mattered. Slipping his deck into the slot James looked at the chef who was doing the same. The guy looked about middle age with a broad middle, thin mustache, and thin cut hair under his tall chef’s hat. He had a friendly smile on his face, which looked vaguely oriental, as he motioned to James “So good sire, you can call me Chang. What shall we call you?” he asked as one of the assistants handed James a small lapel pin.
James looked at it for a moment before attaching it to his shirt collar “I’m James?” He said and sure enough it turned out to be a microphone letting everyone hear him. Chang smiled as he motioned dramatically “Welcome to the Mystic Wok then James, I can see you’re here with your lovely wife.” He motioned to Gwen at the table James had come from, making the embarrassed bear wave softly “So tell me… are you hungry for battle?” he asked making James laugh “Starving! Though bad jokes might kill my appetite if you know what I mean.” The abomasnow said making Change laugh as well. “Very well good sir, then let us leave the humor on the cutting board and get right to the cooking!” Chang said, getting a groan from a few members of the audience “Duel!”
“Duel!!”
James LP: 8000 Chang LP: 8000
There was a mechanical whirr as four projectors rose up from the four cardinal points on the arena walls and a holographic projection of the duelist appeared above them letting the upper two floors see them clearly. While James was looking up in minor awe at this Change drew his card “Since this is my battlefield I shall take the first turn… if that’s okay with you sir?” he asked as James nodded. He smiled and set a monster “I set one monster… and play Heart of the Underdog!” the spell card appeared as James chuckled “My daughter plays that card as well… a heavy normal monster deck?” he asked as Change shrugged, still smiling.
“Perhaps… but a daughter? That’s wonderful, children are truly a wonderful thing.”
“Thank you, she’s currently watching my younger kids.”
“Wonderful! You must be proud. Now then… I end my turn.”
“My draw then!” James pulled his card “And I’ll set two cards and one monster.” He said as the three facedowns appeared and Chang chuckled “So far this has been rather dull…” he said as he drew his card and turned it around to reveal Mushroom Man, a normal monster, as Heart of the Underdog glowed and he pulled another card “Not a normal monster… no matter. I flip my facedown Niwatori!” his monster flipped face-up to reveal… an insanely fat chicken monster with green spikes on its head and green tail feathers as it sat there licking its beak and looking sleepy (900/800).
Before James could comment on the odd monster choice the chicken vanished in a beam of light “And I tribute him to summon my Battle Steer!” Chang called as a Minotaur like monster wearing a red cape, gold bands, and carrying a trident appeared and snorted (1800/1300) as a light bulb went off in James’s brain “Wait… mushroom man, niwatori, and battle steer? This is some kind of food themed normal deck isn’t it?” he asked as Change just laughed “You’re half right my friend, but that’s only the appetizer for the main course of this deck… but first let us dig into what surprises YOU have. Battle Steer, attack his facedown with trident stampede!” Chang shouted as the bull roared and rushed forward, stabbing his weapon into James’s facedown monster.
There was a metallic clang as the trident bounced off a large kite shield with a gear emblem printed on it. James smiled as his monster appeared as Chang stared at it in confusion. It looked like a yellow variation of the old monster Geargiano, a wheel like robot made up of several toy like gears with a pair of cartoonish arms, except this on was setting in what looked like a giant pair of metallic legs with exposed gears on the moving parts and was carrying a large shield in each spindly arm (1100/1900) “It seems my Geargiarmor is a little too tough for you.” James said as a card popped out of his deck “And his effect activates when he’s flipped face-up letting me add a Geargia monster to my hand… any other moves you’d like to make?”
James LP: 8000 Chang LP: 7900
“No, I’m good for now… show me more of your deck sir.” Chang said, obviously intrigued by the unusual monster as James drew his card “Very well then… first I activate one of my facedown cards... Cyber Summon Blaster!” the continuous trap lifted as a vehicle with a large radar dish weapon like something out of a Godzilla movie appeared “Now whenever I special summon a machine type monster I can deal 300 points of damage to you… and since I control a Geargia monster I can special summon my Geargiaccelerator!” there was the sound of screeching rubber as another gear monster appeared, this one set in a toy racecar, before stopping on front of James (1400/800).
The Cyber Summon Blaster sparked and shot Chang making him wince as James’s other facedown flipped “And I activate Inferno Reckless Summon! Letting me summon two more copies of my racer at the cost of letting you summon more of your Battle Steer!” he called as two more racecars screeched to a halt in front of him (1400/800) x 2 while two more Minotaurs appeared on Chang’s field (1800/1300) as Cyber Summon Blaster blasted the chef again. “You have quite the interesting deck sir…” Chang said brushing himself off “But you fail to realize I now have quite the full course laid out now and none of your appetizers can match them.”
James LP: 8000 Chang LP: 7300
“At the moment? Yeah your monsters are stronger… but I’ve got something to fix that. Something I think my son would be rather fond of… I’m going to Xyz summon!” two of the racecars turned into orbs of light before slamming together as a figure rose up. It looked like some kind of robot action figure with sparse blue armor cover its body… but its entire inner workers were made of gears! It even had one on its arm as a shield and a huge one mounted on its back. It’s angular visor lit up as it smacked its fists together dramatically (2300/1500) “Meet Gear Gigant X!” James said dramatically, obviously enjoying to moment as his monster stood in front of him “And summoning him triggers my blaster again!” he added as Chang was zapped.
James LP: 8000 Chang LP: 7000
“And I’ll use his effect… by removing a Xyz material I can add one level four or lower machine type monster from my deck to my hand!” James said as Gear Gigant X absorbed one of the orbs circling him and zapped his deck making a card pop out of it “And since I haven’t normal summoned yet…” he slapped it down as a duplicate of Geargiarmor appeared (1100/1900) “And since it worked so well the first time… I’ll Xyz summon again! Meet my second Gear Gigant X!” the new Geargiarmor and the remaining Geargiaccelerator turned into orbs and crashed together as a duplicated robot warrior rose up to stand next to the first (2300/1500) as the Blaster sparked again and zapped Chang as the chef was sweating now. “And I’ll have them both attack your steers! Gear Grind Smashers!” James shouted as the two robots leapt forward and slugged two of the Minotaurs out.

“And now I’ll use my newer Gear Gigant’s effect… and I’ll add a monster from my graveyard this time!” he said as a card popped out of his grave “I’ll set one card… and then I’ll use Geargiarmor’s effect to flip him back facedown.” He said as the armored robot vanished in placed of a set card “And end my turn.” He finished as Chang picked himself back up and laughed “Bravo! Bravo good sir! Looks like I’ll have to step up my serving speed it I want to compete!” he called as he drew his card “Luckily I happen to have drawn just the card to do it! I play Advanced Ritual Arts!” he called as the spell card appeared in front of him… accompanied by, oddly enough, an ancient looking stone stove.
“Now by sending two normal monsters from my deck to the grave who’s levels equal the ritual monster I want to summon… like my Mad Lobster and Jerry-Beans Man.” He held up the two level 3 normal monsters he’d pulled from his deck “I can special summon my Hungry Burger!” there was the sudden smell of cooking meat as something leapt up from the stove. It looked to be an extremely large hamburger with lettuce, tomato, and a little flag stuck on top of the bun… till the buns lifted revealing sharp teeth and it roared viciously (2000/1850).
“Next… I’ll play White Elephant’s Gift! I send my last Battle Steer to the grave and draw two cards…” the Minotaur shattered as Chang pulled his cards and immediately played one “I activate Preparation of Rites! Now I can add a level seven or lower ritual monster from my deck, like a second Hungry Burger, and add one ritual spell card from my grave, like my Advanced Ritual Arts, to my hand!” he called as he pulled the two cards “And I’ll play my ritual arts again!” another two cards, this time Great Angus and Mushroom Man, went from the deck to the grave as a second Hungry Burger appeared, as vicious looking at the first (2000/1850).
“Next I’ll activate Common Charity!” one of his facedown cards lifted “I now draw two cards and remove a normal monster in my hand from play… but if I can’t remove it then I discard my entire hand!” he said as he pulled his two cards before smiling and holding up the Mushroom Man from before “Luckily I had this!” he said as he slipped it into his pocket before setting one card facedown.. .as his other set card from before lifted revealing another Common Charity. James raised an eyebrow as Change pulled two more cards then removed a copy of Niwatori from play “You sure all this deck thinning is a good idea?” James asked “You’ve gone through six cards just this round…”
“Oh it’ll pay off… cause I play my second Preparation of Rites!” he called as another Hungry Burger slipped from his deck and Advanced Ritual Arts slipped from his grave. Two more normal monsters later, two copies of Mad Lobster, the final Hungry Burger appeared on the field (2000/1850) “And I’ll have my first Burger make a meal of your facedown Geariarmor!” he called as the burger leapt forward and chomped down on the facedown card making the robot appear and shatter as a card slipped from James’s deck “Well his effect still activates!” he called as Chang nodded “Well then, I’ll end my turn.”
James pulled his card “… you’re up to something…” he said as he looked over his hand “… bit I have no clue what. So I’ll just go ahead and use both my Gear Gigant’s abilities!” the robots both absorbed the last orb circling them as two cards slipped out of James’s graveyard “To take these cards back… and now I’ll have my first Gigant attack your burger! Gear Grind Smasher!” he shouted as the robot jumped forward and threw a punch at the deranged sandwich… just as Chang’s set card lifted revealing Mirror Force. “Thought so…” James said as his robots shattered “… well okay I expected something weird and usual to be honest but that’s not too unexpected.”
“My apologies.” Change said with a chuckle “I’ll be sure to use an unusual move to destroy you next time.” James laughed at that “We’ll see… usually when Gear Gigant X leaves the field I’d be able to special summon one level three or lower Geargia monster… but I don’t have any so I’ll have to do something a bit different. Proceeding to my main phase 2… I summon Geargiarmor!” the shield bearing robot appeared again “And I believe you remember my Geargiaccelerator? I added them back to my hand so I special summon ALL of them!” one by one the racecars appeared, Summon Blaster zapping Chang for each one (1400/800) x 3.
James LP: 8000 Chang LP: 4800
“Next… I’m going to summon another monster I think my son might enjoy… but first I play Galaxy Wave! Now whenever I Xyz summon I deal 500 points of damage to you!” he called as a continuous spell appeared next to Cyber Summon Blaster “And I’ll do that right now! I use all three of my Geargiaccelerators to make an overlay network!” he shouted as the racecars turned into orbs and crashed together as a truly bizarre monster rose up. It was a huge metal toy robot made to look like a medieval nobleman. It was dressed in fine clothes with curly yellow hair and a big mustache along with huge Popeye like arms with a long sword clutched in a single fist. Its googly eyes jiggled as it moved and held up the sword dramatically (2200/1200).
“Meet Tinplate Archduke!” James called as Galaxy Wave and Cyber Summon Blaster both blasted Chang “Now then… I’ll use the effect of Geargiarmor to move him back to facedown defense position…” the shield carrying robot again returned to facedown card form “And with that I’ll end my turn.” James said as Chang pulled his card and immediately set it “I think I’ll end my turn there…” the chef said, immediately putting James on edge since Chang hadn’t even bothered to move his burgers into defense mode or attack his facedown monster.
James LP: 8000 Chang LP: 4000
“First… I use my Archduke’s effect!” the giant toy absorbed one of the three orbs circling him into his sword and swung it, the wind it generated forcing one of the burgers to shut itself up in defense mode “Letting me change the battle of one of your monsters! Now I’ll have him attack that monster! Royal Basher!” he shouted as Archduke lumbered forward and swung his sword at the defending burger. Chang grumbled softly as his trap flipped and suddenly soft singing filled the arena “I activate Aqua Chorus! Now all duplicate monsters on the field gain 500 extra attack and defense points… so my Burgers gain a little zing to them!” he shouted as they powered up (2500/2350) and Archduke’s sword bounced off it ineffectively.
James LP: 7850 Chang LP: 4000
“… I was expecting something… but not that…” James said as he looked over the three cards in his hand “… I flip my Geargiarmor and use it to let me add another monster to my hand…” the shield robot appear as a card slipped from his deck “And I’ll move him back to defense mode and end my turn.” It again became a face down card as Chang chuckled and drew as his defense mode burger moved back to attack “It seems the time has come for you to sample the main course sir… or shall I say have the main course sample you! Hunger Burger! Attack his archduke with Big Bite!” he shouted as the burger leapt forward… just as Archduke’s sword absorbed another orb and forced it back into defense mode.
“Did I mention Archduke can use his power on either of our turns?” James asked, smirking a little as Chang clapped “Brave… but how about seconds?” he asked as the second Burge leapt forward and chomped down on Archduke, making him shatter. The last one jumped forward and bit down on Geargiarmor making him shatter even as James added a card to his hand from his deck. Chang nodded and set one face down “And with that I end my turn… I’m afraid it looks like you’ll be picking up the check early sir.” He added, looking at James’s monsterless field as the abomasnow drew.
James LP: 7550 Chang LP: 4000
“Don’t count on it… first I play Pot of Avarice!” he called as he shuffled his three xyz from his graveyard back into his extra deck followed by two of his Geargieaccelerators as he drew two cards “Now… I summon the original monster that started my archtype! Geargiano!” with a whirring noise the original gear robot appeared on the field, happily swinging its arms (500/1000)”And I use its effect to tribute it so I can special summon a level four or lower machine monster in my grave… like Geargiarmor!” the little gear creature vanished and was replaced by the shield bearing one as Cyber Summon Blaster zapped Chang “Of course the monster loses its effect but that won’t matter when I play Inferno Reckless Summon! So I get two more copies of Geargiarmor… too bad you’re out of Burgers.”
Chang raised an eyebrow at this as two more Geargiarmor’s appeared and Summon Blaster shot him… as he suddenly went wide eyed as he realized what James was setting up for. “Right! An Xyz summon!” the abomasnow said as two of the machines turned to orbs and Gear Gigant X rose up onto the field (2300/1500) followed by both Summon Blaster and Galaxy Wave blasting him. “Next I use his effect to add Geargiaccelerator from my graveyard to my hand…” James continued as the robot absorbed an orb and the monster slipped from his grave “And use its power to special summon it for another Xyz summon!” he shouted as the racecar appeared again before becoming an orb with the last Geargiarmor and the second Gear Gigant X rose up as Summon Blaster shot twice and Galaxy Wave shot once.
James LP: 7550 Chang LP: 1500
“Now lets see if I guessed right…” James said as Aqua Chorus started to glow and both the Xyz monsters points shot up (2700/2000) as Chang laughed and grinned “Bravo again sir! You figured out Aqua Chorus would work for your monsters as well!” he called as James stared hard at him. The guy was way too calm about this… but if he could get the attacks through he’d be really close to winning… better safe than sorry though “I use my new Gigant’s power to add a machine monster to my hand…” the robot absorbed an orb as a card slipped from his deck “… then I have him attack your burger!!”
“And I activate Deal of Phantom!” Chang shouted as Gear Gigan’t X rushed at the burger. A pale specter appeared surround the Hungry Burger “this gives my monster 100 attack points for every monster in my grave until the end of the turn… I count ten of them.” Burger’s attack points shot up (3500/2350) as he jumped forward and bit Gear Gigant X in half as Chang laughed “This is a little card I use cause it reminds me of my decks strongest monster… and with him gone you lose the benefits of Aqua Chorus!” sure enough the other Gigant’s points dropped back to normal (2300/1500) as James growled “Well I get to use his power this time! When Gear Gigant X leaves the field a level 3 Geargia in my graveyard gets special summoned to it!” he shouted as Geargiano appeared and Summon Blaster zapped Chang.
James LP: 6750 Chang LP: 1200
“And I’ll tribute him to summon a Geargiarmor from my grave in defense mode!” Geargiano vanished as the shield robot appeared again (1100/1900) and Summon Blaster shot Chang “And I end my turn!” James called as the chef pulled his card, looked at it, and laughed “Excellent! It’s time to bring out my strongest monster and to turn this field into a buffet! I tribute one of my Hungry Burgers to summon my “Diner of Unusual Taste”…” he said as one of the burgers shattered and a dark smog started to rise from the field followed by this hideous green monster. It had spindly limbs and four legs, looking like some twisted combination of a bug and a demon. These red orbs that might have been eyes covered its body randomly as its rudimentary mouth let out a gurgling roar sound (1600/1300).
“Meet my Shadow Ghoul! He’s quite the glutton and gains 100 extra attack points for every monster in my grave… and there’s now eleven there!” Chang shouted as the demon roared and its body pulsed as it powered up (2700/1300) “Now then… Shadow Ghoul destroy his Gear Gigant X!” he shouted as the hideous monster dashed forward and ripped the robot apart with its claws making James wince “His effect activates and Geargiano comes back in defense mode!” the little gear robot appeared on his field as the summon blaster went off.
James LP: 6350 Chang LP: 600
“Hunger Burgers, destroy his little toys!” Chang shouted as the sandwiches made meals of the Geargia monsters, James adding a card to his hand due to Geargiarmor’s effect “And I’ll end my turn there…” Chang said as James pulled his card “… I summon my second Geargiano!” the whirring gear robot reappeared “Then I tribute him to special summon my FIRST Geargiano!” it vanished and was replaced by a copy as Summon Blaster went off “Then I end my turn…” James said as a facedown appeared.
James LP: 6350 Chang LP: 300
“I draw! … and I activate Mystic Wok!” Chang called as he immediately slapped his card down “Now I can tribute a monster to gain back either its attack or its defense in lifepoints! I’m sorry but with this boost you’ll never whittle my lifepoints down before my Ghoul eats you…” Chang started to explain… as James’s trap lifted “… Limit Reverse.” He said simply, obviously stunned, as James nodded “Yep… it lets me special summon on monster with under 1000 attack from my grave. If I remember what Rose taught me about this game that means I get to summon my Geargiano back and have it deal damage to you BEFORE you regain lifepoints… meaning I win.”
There was a stiff silence for a moment followed by Chang breaking into laugher “While I can’t say it’s a good ending to this duel I must say it’s quiet the unique finisher! Well then, go ahead and bring this meal to a close sir!” he said giving James a smile as the abomasnow nodded, gear robot rising up for the last time as Cyber Summon Blaster activated and zapped the chef.

Slowly the holograms faded as Chang laughed deeply “Brave sir! Bravo! As promised you can order whatever you’d like tonight! It’s all on the house!” the chef said as the audience applauded while James chuckled and blushed. After a few minutes of clapping James was led back to his table while the giant wok rose up to fill the arena as Chang stepped out of sight. Gwen chuckled softly as James sat back down “Impressive dueling dear! You demolished that guy!” she praised as James rubbed the back of his head “Sorta… I got the feeling he wasn’t one of the best duelists here… or maybe he was and that deck just crippled him.” The abomasnow shrugged as Momma chuckled lightly “Well dear I think there’s a more pressing matter then that to consider now…”
“Oh? And what’s that my beautiful bear?”
Gwen giggled as the food finally started to arrive by the big, steaming platefuls “Dinner.” She said making James laugh and nod as the two started to tug into their feast, both already planning on what to order after the first course was finished… as well as wondering if they could take some back to Rose and Petie. Petie fumed as Rose slipped him into the Baby Tiragon themed hooded onesie. He didn’t know HOW she’d talked him into agreeing to just a plain, no disk duel with stakes… but so far after three losses he was in a Cuddlebutts Waddler diaper, a pair of cute Baby Tiragon themed baby shoes, and now the matching onesie. He sat on his thickly padded bottom and fumed unhappily as Rose giggled and tickled him “So, want another match? If you win I’ll let you take that stuff off…” she cooed playfully as Petie blushed and picked his cards up off the table “… and what if I lose?” he asked, still pouting unhappily.
“You might get to wear that around tomorrow!”
“No.”
“What? Afraid you’ll lose again?”
“No! You’re on!”
“Too easy, okay then baby brother… duel!”
