Ok,here's the deal.

First,you need to make a character popular,THEN think about merchandising. Kind of putting the cart before the horse on this one. It's not a bad idea to "know a guy" and be ready,but you really need to focus on making a character people WANT to own a part of.

Well,what kind of numbers are we talking here? "On my website" can mean anything from a hundred to hundreds of thousands of people. Plus,these busts tend to be pricy. I'd probably suggest,for a limited audience,maybe a "pre-order run". That is,a run of the busts that's limited to the number of pre-orders for it you get and then getting the run when the orders reach the minimum the manufacturer's willing to do or a certain time limit is up,which ever comes first. But you'll want to get the money first before you send off for anything.
