About shading... I'm using this technique to shading my digitalized drawings (not yet uploaded): when you've finished your artwork, on a new layer, draw the light source (ex.: a little circle, you'll erase it later), then think in 3D and use the brush to create self-shadows, black with low opacity or darker colour with free opacity.
That's the basics, your style would make the rest ;)
